Dudley’s redemption moment WAS in the books. Petunia makes a big deal about Dudley saying sorry, even though he didn’t say sorry, but Harry understands what he meant, and accepts him anyway.

the original scene was better IMO. his character development was good already, conflicted and he sticked to his personaity and core. at the end of the day, they chose to leave voldemort for family.
