Hi! In this dungeon possibly not, it's totally up to the players and the game. This is in the same world as Rappan Athuk and Gunderholfen, its just one contigous living world, rather than playing through specific modules.

I've just watched the announcement portion for now, and wanted to say that you guys have become my favorite actual play channel. I started with the ACKS series, and now I'm slowly working my way through the Rappan Athuk play list. I appreciate the raw "no performances, nothing fancy" presentation style.

Thank you! Yes that needs to be updated with the new place to get S&W. Unfortunately the links to some of the other products are dead. The play club invite I’m going to change to an online application instead (it’s a club not just a Discord, still free though!). But alas, I think Frog God might not sell the 2012 S&W version of Rappan Athuk anymore. I’ll check. Thank you for the help! I’ll update this

16.67% of the time it's every time. Also I guess Bloombad can purify the fresh food if they don't eat it before it spoils. Great show, I'll be sad when I get to the end. Comparable to 3d6 down the line's Arden Vul delve.

Hey DM Ross, I love the way you integrate weather as another random element of the dynamic world. Are there rules in the RA book that you use or do you use some other generator (and if yes, which one)?
@mythicmountainsrpgАй бұрын
Hi! Sadly I don't recall it being in Rappan Athuk. I simply select a climate and roll a d4 for the number of days that a weather front will change. My real life job involves meteorology so I tend to describe these changes on either end like the change in wind, pressure, temperature, clouds etc. A cold front will have more stable conditions sometimes like fog banks or clouds. A warm front might have severe weather like lightning and rain. Changes in fronts may have high winds. So if it's a nice day I roll a D4 and depending on the season, climate and current front (is it hot out? Storms are probably up next) I determine when the next change in weather comes in. It's not perfectly simulationist, but that's what I do. For a starting point, donjon has this weather generator, or I can use real world weather in the UK donjon.bin.sh/d20/weather/

Getting to this quite late. I love that the bar brawl has consequences that potentially drive the game. I also love that some of the players are like: "Oh yeah, this type of trouble/drama is what makes the game fun!" or you know, recognize that it's very much on theme. Also good that the group is open enough to be like "Yeah, no, I'm not comfortable with going with Space Racism, even though it could get our characters out of trouble."
@mythicmountainsrpg2 ай бұрын
Hello my friend welcome to our play club! This series starts to find it's footing around session 20 I think, then it becomes very coherent with the same players. It's very experimental during these first few episodes though we still have some fun! Yes, the Charted Space can be awful, and they find themselves in the uncomfortable position of deciding when to side with the bad guys. One thing I like about Traveller is it humanizes the characters (and aliens) and, in some cases, they actually make bad choices because they don't want to die or lose. Mild spoiler...in the end they do decide to be "Big Damned Heroes" (if you find in the future that they indeed resort to the old space racism or other bad choices for money)
@mermeller2 ай бұрын
Awesome series, I'm enjoying it a lot and hope to catch up eventually! Lately, I've tried my hand at running Traveller 2E myself, having little experience with sci-fi RPGs, so I wanted to ask where do you find images of landscapes etc. that you show to players?
@mythicmountainsrpg2 ай бұрын
@@mermeller hi! I just use Pinterest and Reddit. For space western stuff I like to use game images like from Borderlands, concept art. For cities Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk maps are sometimes easier to find for battle maps than sci fi ones for some reason.

This interview is useless. KZbinr with 123k followers, a man adept at gaining a youtube audience has such an aggressive noise-gate or compressor setting that it's impossible to understand what he has to say. This is embarrassing and breaks the first rule of uploading youtube videos: Have clean audio. If I were you, Stop the interview 5 minutes in and figure out the audio-problem. maybe even switch to a mobile phone, if it takes too long to find the problem. Or re-schedule the interview for later to have the time to solve it. I was interested to hear out your points, but I cannot hear anything with half the sentence swallowed up. And neither will anybody else. Also, a 3m30s intro is too long before you ask the first question to your interviewee.

29:40 In BECMI a turn is 10 minutes. This corresponds to the duration of a combat or the time required to explore a room. I think that a Old School Essentials turn is also 10 minutes.
