I recommend going to Copperdale to dig up crystals and metals (If you have highschool years). If you go to the boba store and collect all the rocks then go to the library the rocks respawn. Another good spot is at the science lab, there are so many rocks to dig there. Just in case analyzing takes too long or does give you all the elements. Not Vladdy daddy though coming to suck her blood and Kyle not helping !!

The Lab isn't in Strangerville, it literally has no world. The lab in Strangerville is literally a different (empty) building with the mother plant in the basement. Be careful when you rebuild the lab. There are a bunch of things that you might think are not needed, (like treadmills etc) they are because the daily tasks can ask you to work out, tinker with the coffee machine and other random things. So do some research and make sure you add literally everything you need or Ada could end up with a task she can't do because you forgot something.

Keep in mind, Yellow generation (Adas grandchildren) WILL need to have a good relationship with her. So you might want to use the cloning machine etc to make sure that she stays alive long enough for that. There is a serum (age-away) that resets thier age back to day 1 of thier current, so you can clone that serum as many times as needed to keep Ada as an adult so she can know her grandchildren.

Those "quests" are a pain in the butt and can be turned off in the Options menu. They are basically for beginners who don't know how to play the game yet..

I always make my sims eat vegetarian food even if they don't have the trait. I started that habit because I do alot of 100 baby challenges and randomize the kids traits. If the only things in the fridge are vegetarian/lactose free, I never have to remember who is/isn't and no matter what they grab for leftovers, it will be all good.

I have been gardening since age 16. Love it. So do I really want to go outside and water? YES! I have junk tons of tomatoes and zucchini already. Yummers.

Actually, you will likely need to garden in the scientist career. The lab does have the plants needed growing in there, but they are glitchy and simmers often do the entire career without being able to water/harvest etc except one time maybe. It has been a bug since day 1 of the pack and EA hasn't fixed it. And your sims co-workers will often water before the task list in the corner asks your sim to do it etc. So that one time the lab plants do let your sim harvest, snag them and grow them at home or you won't have them when you need them to make serums....

I wouldn't worry about what color "mint" is. If you buy a pack of "mint" gum, the packets can be blues, various greens, turquoise, teal and even cinnamint is reddish. So what is "mint"? Who knows, colors are subjective anyway. One person might call a color wedgewood blue, others dutch blue, more blue-grey, cadet blue or periwinkle for others. Who is right? Well, no one is right or wrong. I have mint growing in my yard and it is medium green with lavender flowers, (smells awesome) go figure.
