The '5' is the number of mgs in one ml of 0.5% bupivacaine. You get from % to mgs/ml by multiplying by ten. So 0.5% = 5mg/ml

great overview, thank you. as an aside, interesting that the standard CS spinal dose in SA is 2ml - lower than what i've come across. useful to know higher doses are not really necessary

This is again an amazing video , how do you feel about using a 5ml syringe to inject the bupivicaine/fentanyl 2ml mixture instead of the 3mls to decrease increased pressure while injecting into csf to decrease chances of high spinal

Thank you for the explanation . Using small need for skin infiltration will be more comfortable for the patient . And After finished given spinal make sure you cover the wound and apply pressure. Some anaesthetic do several puncture and the risk of CSF leaks will be more .this is just from my point of view. Thank you again
