Un train électrique en Amérique , ce n'est pas courant !!!!!
@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis Жыл бұрын
Indeed, and there is currently only one other railroad in the USA that uses electric locomotives for freight, the Iowa Traction. There is an industrial railroad in Canada that also uses electric locomotives (and automatic train operations besides), but that’s it for the moment. Black Mesa and Lake Powell shut down, the Navajo Mine railroad and Texas Energy as well as the Tumbler Ridge subdivision of B/C Rail all dieselized, and the East Troy Electric Railroad doesn’t currently have any active freight customers on electrified track.

This is a different line, although built to similar specifications and for the same purpose. A significant portion of the route is along the old Denver and Salt Lake surveyed route.

GE E60C-2 Deseret Power Ry. #DPR-4 just came out of the shop with new paint and a new name. #4 was the first of the railroad's 4 active locomotives to receive the new paint. It previously sported a gray Ferrocarril Nacional de México (NdeM) paint job and the number EA 012. Number 4 was built in April 1983 by General Electric in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Nice looking engines! Hate when they are spray painted with graffiti.

This is a beautiful electric railroad in the west of the USA. They have amazing GE E60 locomotives. I have saw a Amtrak E60 locomotive at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania during my visit at the Strasburg Railroad in September 5th 2021 for Norfolk & Western 611 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Great vid but a little anticlimactic with 2 diesels backing it up.
@IrshadAhmed04488717342 жыл бұрын
They say that the 2 diesels are for providing power to the compartments. But then the engine is running on oil, not on coal that again defeats the purpose.

They won't for another decade. Bonanza supplies power to quite a bit of upstate Colorado-Utah.
@blacksmoke07892 жыл бұрын
The Bonanza Power Plant and the railroad will keep running for about another decade, but it's a little questionable if it will survive longer than that. Apparently there's an agreement that the power plant will need to install some expensive upgrades to operate past ~2030. I haven't heard whether the plant owners consider it a worthwhile investment.

Why's always just BNSF perform this kind of hauling instead of UP ??.
@davidlemmon46033 жыл бұрын
When I was a kid I lived on Indiana Street about 3-houses from Santa Ana St. in Anaheim (1980s). I saw the UP train go by all the time but just took it for granted. Now I'm a new Railfan and I'm finally realizing how awesome that experience was..... Anyone have information about this line? Where does it go to? Is it just a short spur? What is the schedule? I would love to go back to my neighborhood and check it out.
@blackbirdgaming81472 жыл бұрын
It’s a branch line serving the Santa Ana and Anaheim area, with connections to the national system at CP College in Anaheim. It also connects to the Huntington Beach Branch in Stanton, which travels all the way down to Reliable Lumber in Huntington Beach. The vast majority of trackage is ex-SP and/or ex-Pacific Electric.

The mind boggles at how long these monsters are. Where are they lashed up? How do they decide how many cars and engines to have? How long does it take to load and unload the containers and rail cars? How do they decide whether engines face forward or backward?

What days or services does this local run?
@GarrettsTrains953 жыл бұрын
The local runs every weekday, Monday-Friday in morning hours, (7:30am-1pm around this time range) and goes in the Anaheim Hills areas I think every Monday Wednesday and Friday, goes to Santa Ana via the Orange sub every Monday and Wednesday, and goes to Stanton and Huntington Beach every Tuesday and Thursday.

@@GarrettsTrains95 I’m pretty sure it only runs to Huntington Beach on Tuesdays and Thursdays on an as-needed basis. If not, I know it for sure only serves Reliable Lumber on an as-needed basis.
