I went out for the opener. Large marsh/lake in SE WI. For the first 1/2 hour (prior to legal shooting) I was covered in birds, primarily wood ducks. The first shot I heard was 18 minutes before legal time. After that the shooting was non-stop. I didn’t see a lot of teal so I’m not sure what all of those violators were shooting at but I have a bad feeling it was anything “duck” shaped. I shot a few blue wings that morning. I went the last day of the season and there was a huge increase in teal. My buddy and I limited by 8:15. Very few hunters out and not a shot fired that I could hear before legal.

Ya it seems to happen every year where people just don’t know the rules and are shooting way to early. We have noticed the same thing though as it gets good those last few days of the season

At 14:24 that’s not a molting Drake is a hen. I can tell by the orange beak drakes, don’t have orange bills in is called spontaneous sex reversal should’ve mounted it

Yes definitely do. Try to keep it in a pocket or somewhere warm when not filming for as long as possible but it’s definitely still a problem. Run multiple batterys as well to help

Thanks! As a waterfowl hunter there always will be some times where you may blast your buddy’s ear but I do not see any unsafe shots putting others in danger in anyway? Everyone has their shooting lane and sticks to it. Thanks for watching!

Good video… everyone has rust to break off early season duck. I knocked some off with dove season but I’m sure will have rusty days shooting early season when it opens in a week.

I would not shoot them on the water. Have you ever heard of feet down wings spread then dead??? It’s easier to find them and you don’t loose ducks!! You should try that for a change.
