Crysis was pretty much built with the same concept except of course much more advanced.

too bad nVidia quietly deleted this tech demo and all other ones featuring women from their website in 2020, because apparently it's very offensive to depict women in the modern era
@j7ndominica0512 ай бұрын
What a beautiful woman. I don't like the boots though for an action character. I she part of a game? Some of those other demos gave me vibes of contemporary games.

Ahhh...what memories! This computerized construction was the closest thing too many shy dudes ever got to being near a female of the species 20 years ago. I hope these same dudes made some interpersonal progress since then. But seriously, this animation was absolutely jaw-dropping back then, in more ways than one.

This was wildly impressive back then. Games up to this point all had many flat surfaces for their landscapes, to keep the polygon count low and performance on acceptable levels. This was the first time or one for the first times where consumers could experience realtime high polygon landscape rendering on their PC's. Complete with high polygon creatures and assets. Previous demo's usually just showed one high polygon model with a simple background.

Looks great as for those times. What games did they do in this engine?
@Bernie-xb1iy3 ай бұрын
The Engine was used in Gothic (2001 Classic RPG). For the official GeForce4 product launch in February of this year, NVidia chose, among other things, a demo from Codecult to demonstrate the DirectX 8 performance of the GeForce4 Ti graphics chips. The demo was released for download by Codecult in April as its own 3D benchmark.

@@Bernie-xb1iy Nope. Gothic 1 and 2 had it's own engine which wasn't even close to this.

@@plrc4593 Thank you very much for the hint. I found here forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/threads/1553764-CC-PB-Relations-of-PB-s-very-own-Genome-Engine-to-the-CodeCult-CodeCreatures-engine "After Gothic was released in March 2001 and subsequent patches came out, Piranha Bytes started working on the recently-discussed sci-fi shooter game, which used the CodeCreatures engine. This game was cancelled in October 2001 in favor of Gothic 2." Unfortunatly there is no game existing with the Codecreatures engine
@plrc45933 ай бұрын
@@Bernie-xb1iy I know this site. Are you sure no games were made with CodeCreatures Engine? Phenomedia made a lot of games in Crazy Chicken series. It's seems Phenomedia owned Code Cult. Maybe those games were made with CC Engine?

I remember seeing this as a kid in tiger direct on one of their machines for sale on a nice looking monitor for the time and it looked soo good that I still remember to this day at 36 years old. Weird thing to remember. I think that day I was there to buy an Nvidia 6600gt for a hundred some bucks.

Thanks for the video! I loved this demo back then and want to play it again so badly... The only accessible Version, that I found on the internet is missing a setup file needed to be installed. (I checked for viruses of course, and the version is clean.). Found also at the page "betaarchive" a version of it, but the database is locked, until me as a user contributes there with uploading original stuff. You can consider yourself being lucky in being able to play it :D

No. This demo was designed for the Radeon X1800 graphics card. The X1950 is one of the fastest in this X1K series. Unfortunately, I found small graphical errors with later series.
