When the original first came out, I plugged the audio out from the ps2 into my computers audio card. I went to the pause menu and recorded each radio station as it's own MP3. They were about 30 minutes long each. The graphics weren't even that great at the time. Many games looked better but no other game had such a massive map with so many things to do. GTA6 could look just like GTA5 and quadruple the map size and populate it with more people and things to do and I bet people would be happy with that.

Many things to do...ehhhh, jury's out on that one. But it really felt like FREEDOM. I was about 8 when this game came out, and I either didn't have a PC, or it couldn't run it at the time. First time I laid eyes on this was at a family friend's apartment with my older brother. So it was me and some teenagers gathered around the PC. When I saw the guy walk out of that Kuruma in the pouring rain and punch an old lady holding shopping bags I thought "Holy shit, this is it. This is the greatest game, just look at it. And it's a whole city?! Who knows what lurks within it." I remember when they began the "Luigi's girls" mission, one guy looked at me and went "Uh ohhh, I don't know if this one's for you, little maaan, heheh", or something along those lines. Games back in the day, as far as I were concerned were separate genres only. Either platformers, shooters, strategy or driving games. Sandbox wasn't really a thing, and definitely nowhere near what it is these days. So I think this is the game that impressed me the most, ever. Although Vice City's 80's atmosphere had a very different, but just as impactful, impression on me. I can still vaguely feel the emotions I had when seeing these games for the first time, it was really something special. Sorry about the random rant,I just went with it.

@93BlazinFire I was 20 when it came out. The "many things to do" isn't anything to do now, but back then the closest thing to an "open world" was Final Fantasy 7. The freedom you mention, being able to just do what you want and pick up missions as you like was mind blowing. You could do things that you can't do in 5, like steal a fire truck and do fire truck missions... at least I don't think you can do that. Oh, and no worries about that rant. I actually hadn't played any video games since GTA4 15 years ago. Had a family, kids and put it down..... until the GTA6 trailer dropped. I bought a ps4 off a coworker and picked up gta5 to catch up on things so alot of nostalgia is coming back. I think I broke the code to this gaming thing though. Lol just stop playing them for about 14 years and then everything is cheap and feels new.
