My interpretation of this was that, maybe when he lost his son, he felt his life or future was unknown or fading, like the fog hides the path in a forest. When our loved one dies, we lose our way, which is no different than going through a foggy forest, not being able to see what lies ahead.

We have similar cranes in America. They are specially protected. I really loves cranes, I don't know why. Maybe it's because one time I had a beautiful dreams.of cranes along the river, and they took flight. I would love to visit that dream again.

釈迦入滅のとき、母親の摩耶夫人は天界から不老長寿の「薬袋」を投げたのですが、その薬袋は沙羅双樹の枝に引っかかってしまいました。 それを見た一匹のネズミがするすると沙羅の木に登り、なんとか枝をかみ切らんとかじり始めました。ところが猫がネズミを追い払ってしまい、結局薬袋は届くことなくお釈迦様はお亡くなりになってしまいました。 そのために猫は十二支に入れてもらえないと言います。
