All you have to do is undo the front lens and make a ring about 6mm which holds it at a suitable distance to focus. I used a piece of plastic bottle. Tape it up with insulation tape. It took about 5 mins to fix. I agree that most folks either wouldn't know how to fix it or wouldn't want to buy a duff scope. I think you should at least have considered why it won't focus and attempted to fix it as it is really really easy to do.

Nice SRM Land collectuon! 02:10 Re: lockbar overtravel stop I thought the pocket clip was pulling double duty. Efficient, low frills and effective. The Sebenza has a similar system.

I bet that would look really good if the clip was removed and the handles were sanded down and buffed.

Jeff Tsai , which one do you prefer 910 plus/ 9104 / 9015 for edc tasks ??? by the way great review and you just got your 101th subscriber
@jefftsai18795 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks! If I had to choose, I'd go with the 910 plus. It takes less room in the pocket and since it doesn't have a flipper tab, I can use the entire length of the edge for food prep and such. Get both though! They're great.

Thanks for the Finger choi warning, otherwise a nice looking rip-off of an Esse. How is it for Karambit-style deployment? Is the ring interior chamfered?
@jefftsai18795 жыл бұрын
It isn't sharp in the ring, but since there aren't really any handle scales, you're just resting your fingers against exposed liners. For a short amount of time, it's fine. I doubt it would be for prolonged use with finger in the hole, but I don't personally use the whole for gripping it.

My favorite knife. Pretty much the perfect size, great quality, and for a low price. Not a fan of the blue rivets and thumb stud. Needed to be loosened a lot after receiving it.

I've got the stainless scale model, 1st thing I did was take it apart and shot 3 coats of WW2 OD Green Duracoat covering the scales. I've been carrying for about a month and for my use it's a razor. I've only stropped the blade a few times but yeah the detent is tight. I'm a benchmade/Spyderco snob but for $27 it's hard to beat!

The glass breaker works well, tested it at our fire academy on a few car windows. Cheaper “rescue” knives will use softer steels for the window punch, which will quickly blunt after a few uses. It works, rest assured! P.S., is someone making rice in the background? I know that sound anywhere! (Family from Taiwan)
@jefftsai18796 жыл бұрын
Haha... busted.. Rice is always being cooked in this house. Not a day goes by that I don't have some rice. :) Glad to hear the glass breaker works! I never really got it for that function, but it's reassuring to hear it's functional.

Thanks for comparing the 2, I couldn't figure out what was different. But...I have the 6040 BUC-PH and it is identical to your 681 except the logo is larger and it has the 6040 model number on the other side of the blade. I got mine from Fasttech last year. Now here's what's crazy....the new 9165 is a full size version of this knife at least in terms of blade shape. It is a slipjoint but it has a pin you can insert through the handle and through a hole in the backspring to lock the blade. The hole in the backspring is in the same location as the hole in your 681. My 6040 has that hole too, which doesn't seem to serve any purpose. But maybe they thought about doing the pin lock way back when they made the 681 but it never happened. Thanks for pointing that out, I had never noticed the hole.
@jefftsai18796 жыл бұрын
The 9165 is on my radar. It's a very attractive blade and I'd like to get my hands on one. I think you're right. They were probably planning to do that and they finally did. Sanrenmu's new offerings are really attractive as well as the new ganzos. The chinese-produced knives are stealing the show nowadays. I haven't purchased a north american/european knife for over a year now.

Brother? Is that a good knife maker? How would you rank it vs. Sanranmu, Ganzo, or Ruike? How does this "clone" fare next to the Ganzo "clone" of Spyderco?
@jefftsai18796 жыл бұрын
With brother, imo, the quality control is an issue. Ganzos, for the most part, are quite consistent with their quality. Unfortunately, brother varies quite a bit more. I'v had a handful of them, and for the most part, they're decent, but you can occasionally get a lemon. 9 out of 10 times, I'd go for the ganzo spyderco clone over a brother spyderco clone.

Thanks. Just ordered a GANZO FH11 from Amazon. Surprisingly, its cheaper than at Gearbest and won't take a month to deliver (I hope!). Many of the KZbin knife people are praising it because it uses D2 steel. Would love to hear your comments on it if you get one. By the way, you seem to be, -probably the only, right-handed knife vlogger on KZbin. Everyone else is a lefty.
