When I was stationed there the 113s didn't have turrets. Are those replacements for the M60 to simulate tanks? One of them had a 4 Series number on it and so that would be Delta company correct? It wouldn't surprise me because if we left the hard stand with 8 M60s we would arrive at the staging point with 4. Constantly breaking down

The Italian tank is slightly worse then a Leo 2 A4. They have about the same fire control system that was the best in the world in the late 90s but not now, the Leo 1 A5 also got this upgrade too and same system. Its lightly then the Leo 2 with a little less armour closer to 50 tonne , and the speed electronics and everything else are all similiar to the Leo 2 A4. So really its just a Leo 2 A4 with a bit less armour but still a lot more armour then a Leo 1 . italy made 200 after the Cold war finished its not enough to keep upgrades they would be better of getting the Leo 2 or Leo 3 next and giving all these to Ukraine

Does the Italian tank suck ?? well what matters is that for example the famous leopard 2 used by the turks against isis in syria have been decimated ...... by what ??? from old Russian anti-tank weapons so the mechanical means counts but against anti-tank weapons it doesn't matter how beautiful or expensively equipped the tank is because in the end it will remain only a steel grave ....

the cost has come down to "less than $3,000" recently. i think the original patent which has 2/4 of the canards moveable is where the original price estimates of 10k each came from. m982 excalibur shells originally were ~$300K each but are now ~$70K. still, i think these cheap fuzes are a much better option. if you read the original patent (US20050056723A1), its clear that originally they were intended to have 2/4 of the canards be moveable. the guidence mode these use is very similar to the space shuttle, having basically only 1 adjustable axis of control but one that gives you authortity over range and windage/dispersion. really interesting since they dont have any batteries, but instead have a built in altinator which spins up shortly after firing, probably putting energy into capacitors. the same altinator is there most likely driven backwards to become a motor which is where the control authority comes from. unfortunatly this means that the range can be significantly reduced depending on the conditions these are used in, for example rain and higher pressure/lower elevation might mean ~5-10% loss of range... I am not sure if these would also be compatible with rocket assisted projecticles either, since they need most of the flight time to change the trajectory, and the most efficient use of a rocket is to have it burn more slowly over most of the flight path. There might be a middle ground however... its crazy how fast these were adopted and stockpiled... just a few years and the US got 100,000 of them. russia almost went through the exact same purchase around 2016 but decided it wasnt worth the money since their tactics relies more on overwhelming volume of fire. bet they are wishing they had invested in these now....

Went to Graf only once in '73 for an ORT. There were about 32 battalion-sized units in the area at that time. Too much dust and I had to work on the recovery crew.

Something about its turret looks really cool to me if they uparmored its hull and turret gave it some blowout panels and a rws it might be a decent tank
