interesting video, but I wonder why do you hunt during night time ?
@swedenishunting8426 Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 we hunt night time since here most of the wildboars are only active at night. Only in really remote areas and during midnightsun summer you would have normal shooting light
@A.Chp-Schweppes Жыл бұрын
@@swedenishunting8426 OK, thank you, here in France the boars are also more active at night. Since it's forbidden to hunt any game night time, we mostly use dogs to have them move or we organize driven hunt.
@swedenishunting8426 Жыл бұрын
Yes here wild boar is “fairly new” spreading north. So while south boar is common and regulation is maybe better in place, here in middle Sweden we got a wave of boars. This caused problems for the farmers and private gardens, so the government changed the law and allowed for night and thermal vision for wild boar only. Since then, populations have reduced a lot. Living 30 years in Germany, I have never seen a wild boar… here I see them all the time…

So if I’m coming from Arizona USA where there is no firearms licenses or registration of firearms, the police department need to provide a letter or is there a specific document that needs to be filled out. My fear is that the police department would like to have an established document rather than a generic document.
@swedenishunting84262 жыл бұрын
Hello Garret, sorry for late reply… that’s a really good question… so it took me some time to think… Swedish police usually is not so still… I would try to make a custom one, just getbit signed and stamped feom the police department, best if it’s with their letterhead and all. Apply in good time, then you’ll have a chance to hand in a revised document if necessary. Usually the swedish police will clarify this with your host and tell him/her what they want instead

The host that invite the foreign huntere must br with you in the ground? Does he has some responsability?
@swedenishunting84262 жыл бұрын
Hello Nick, good question! Yes the host needs to be on site, this can not be a hunting agency outside of Sweden The police wants ONE contact person responsible for all questions and alignments. I got called by the police for e.g. extra questions or misstakes in the form. You are even responsible for proving valid hunting rights for the area you claim, you are responsible for your guests following the legal rules and regulations and that they only apply for weapons that are legal/ellegible for hunting. Last but not least the host needs to have a clean registry with the police.

How does hunting in Sweden work in terms of the land that you can hunt on. Asking because I intend to move to sweden, but I am not sure how the hunting system works there. Do you have to join a local hunting club or do you hunt as an individual on a public land.
@swedenishunting84262 жыл бұрын
The majority is private land that is rented by hunting teams for 3-5 years per term and often stay with the same team for many terms. Members of these teams are often allowed to bring friends as guest hunters There is public land in the highlands And then of course there is private land that is run by outfitters

OMG this is the video ive been looking for, thanks so much for this very informative video. Im actually coming from Australia and will be coming over sometime next year (hopefully with how things are going!) and will be hunting with a family friend who will be getting married. However, i have several questions regarding quantities, Is there a hard limit on how many firearms or ammunition? When i come over i want to bring over a few calibers (Specifically, my 22LR Savage and my Sauer 308), could i bring both and a few boxes of ammo with me?
@swedenishunting84263 жыл бұрын
Haha 😄 you’re welcome 👍 glad I could help out! I can’t see a problem with what you intend to bring. Both caliber seem reasonable, and I haven’t experienced any unreasonable limitations to the ammount of ammo you’re allowed to Import. I guess the airline might be the bigger limitation 😂 What are you planning to use the 22lr for?

@@swedenishunting8426 Small game such as rabbits as i dont want to waste stuff like 308s on them, it was funny the first time then fiscal irresponsibility the next! Plus i want to keep a variety around so things stay interesting.
Great content, as always. I have to say although I am a huge supporter of thermal cams to spot I am always shooting with IR. I simply want to see where I am shooting at. So it is spotting with a thermal cam, then shooting with high resolution residual light amplifier on the scope with IR. The ones from Dedal are fantastic, with the 555 you sometimes even dont require an IR which by the way still is illegal in certain regions of Germany. I am among the lucky ones where most devices are allowed to be used.

@@swedenishunting8426 I think an overview with regards to "finding a place to hunt" would be something I am most uncertain about. I am personally not interested in an expensive curated experience, and I don't need a guarantee of success. I think my ideal hunting trip would be renting a cabin and spending a week in a public forest to learn hunting by trying myself on smaller game. Would it make sense to hunt on public land for me? How would I find out about it? Are there organizations or communities which I could contact for such information? Maybe a forum or Facebook group? Hmmm good question… 1) Try to cover the whole season with the application (maybe this works?) 2) Register for a personnumber in Sweden, request a swedish weapons license and register it with the swedish police… I don’t have to apply for anything when I go to Germany for a hunt… out/in just register it with customs… These are the only (bad) options I can think of… 🤷🏻♂️

Great video thanks! I would like to know where the different species roam! what's where to shoot - Red deer, Fallow, Roe, moufflon and of course wild boar! And if there's special laws on the ammunition/ calibre to use maybe only leadfree?. I can see night vision / Thermals that youre using. thats not legal where I live, so going into that would be nice to know! Is any property owner allowed to be my host or how big has the property/ land to be?
@swedenishunting84263 жыл бұрын
Hello Carlboo, thanks 😊 Lots of questions there 😂👍 Red deer is patchworked all over the country but not everywhere. Fallow deer is very local, Norrköping area would be a good start but there are other areas. Mufflon is spread out in small populations and decimated by wolfes… wild bor is all over the country up to max Gävle in the North. For that kind of game class 1 ammunition is needed, eg 6,5x55 beeing one of the smallest, 308 30-06 is fine Thermals and nightvision are in general only allowed for wild boar, you may use fully equped sights with crosshairs (in difference to eg Germany where you only can use clip ons)

Thank you so much for this video! I will be moving to Sweden part-time soon (will be spending 35%) of my time there, and I have always wanted to go hunting. In the netherlands, hunting opportunities are very sparse and I have therefore never been able to do it. I do have 3 years of firearms experience at a shooting range and was about to purchase my first rifle when COVID struck and I could not go shooting anymore. Anyways, this video helped me a lot on my way to hunt in Sweden. One more question, are any of the multiple day courses to get a hunting license offered in English?
@swedenishunting84263 жыл бұрын
That is a good question... I am not sure... from my personal experience all hunting education is in swedish with very few exceptions. I mean it's worth asking one of the companies, they usually are very helpfull. Nevertheless, in order to register a Swedish hunting exam you will need a Swedish Personnummer/Person number otherwise it is not possible... or you just fix a hunters exam in the Netherlands... that should work too

Instant like. I mainly hunt birds all fall and winter. Mostly with shotgun (but i also bring me a rifle). Orre (black grouse) I also hunt with decoys/bulvaner. Find a nice mire where they play, put the decoys and hide. More often then not 2-20 birds will join, and you can either take them with shotgun (if close) or rifle (i use a 22 Hornet with fmj) at around 100 meters. Early morning though, as the sun goes up around 04:30 in aug-sept, and birds wake up at 6-7 depending on weather. If you are lucky you can rouse them from the ground and get them with shotgun. Planning on getting a Vorster dog when i find a nice breeder, a versatile dog for solo hunters in sweden.

I grew up in norrbotten/lappland and you are probably just half way there from where you are hunting (seen from stockholm). I havent hunted there yet, but will go up next winter. I will try and get my father on skiis, never seen him use them but he has 3 pairs of tegsnäsare. When i grew up he mainly hunted with Finnspets, so its a diffrent kind of hunting then this.
