I had this on the b-side of a single vinyl , it sounds like Van Hagar

I remember discovering this album when I was in middle school & my old man had never heard any of it & he was a maiden fan since the early days .. he said it reminded him of Brian Adams & he loved his Brian Adams so I took that as a compliment cause I love Him too… He passed in 2020, anytime I listen to this or Reach out .. that girl ..makes me think of him… This entire record is amazing !!

what a beautiful song ❤️ Adrian is so underrated as a Lead guitarist..from 1981 to 88 in his PRIME .

The opening music is a mix of 'Ey, Ukhnyem!' ( song of the Volga boatmen ) and 'Polyushka Polye' ( The Fields ).

Patchouli is a scent and perfume described as Earthy/Musky and sometimes exotic, so no wonder Donovan would include it in one of his songs. I'm happy I got to see him perform in Boston in late 71 or early 72 at the Music Hall downtown when I was a student at Boston U. He was accompanied by flute (probably Harold McNair) and violin. He played a wide range of songs and was well received. One of the greatest and most underrated folk artists of the 60s. .

This is why I lean toward Guest’s comedic work over the Ferrell / Stiller stuff. Guest knows when to let a film breath, and when to offer his central characters some level of dignity so they can crawl out of the train wreck for a few moments.

Wow! Didn't know about the song until about 5 days ago. I like it that should not have been a B-side Iron Maiden would be 10 times bigger today. But the music industry is afraid of them.

Fun fact; the guitarist who's doing backing vocals is called Adrian Smith and he's got a really good voice. You can check him out during the song Reach Out (where Bruce is obviously doing backimg vocals).

Thanx Donovan. I have never seen a copy of " HMS Donovan" 2LP. I have " Home Sickness" which Jeff Beck scholars say Jeff Beck plays guitar on. I have half of your 60s discs and love it still !! THANK YOU

He plays this song unlike any other artist. He just add an element of rhythm and complexity that most covers don’t seem to have. Particularly in the chorus, he combines the riff with the basic chorus structure.
