Very reliable. I've had mine for 13 years and just now the plastic cable has started to crack. They go a long way and are pretty accessible to the new pilot.

Hello Sachin, You can probably find a CX-2 online, but ASA no longer sells the CX-2 as the CX-3 has replaced it. The CX-3 can do everything the CX-2 can and more. If you want to compare them, you can compare the two user manuals here: www.asa2fly.com/Product-Manuals-W37C502.aspx

Hi, I'm using E6-B2WHL and it has a different settings, can find the arrow in the inner scale, only NM, SM (Nautical mile, Status mile) but I can see other arrows on the out scale like (US GAL, IMP GAL, FUEL LBS, km, OIL LBS, KG, LTRS, LBS) I understand how to convert NM to SM because I can see the arrow on the inner scale, but how to convert for example US GAL to LTRS? Link for the E6B-B2WHL image: smhttp-ssl-71222.nexcesscdn.net/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/e/6/e6b-pg2z_4.jpg?lightbox[autoresize]=false as well as the product location here: www.marvgolden.com/apr-e6-b2whl-pilot-flight-computer.html

The question is where is the center of pressure located in helicopter rotor blade? In front of the feathering axis or pivot point or behind the feathering axis? Answer might be helpful for me thanks.

Thanks but how to change from gallon to litters
@asa2fly
@asa2fly 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Libi, The "2nd" button activates the menu items above each of the keys. Once you have determined the number of gallons of fuel, you can convert the answer to liters by going directly to Calculator mode and pushing the ON button. Enter the number of gallons, then push the "2nd" button followed by the number 9. This should convert gallons to liters. You can also convert liters back to gallons by pushing the "2nd" button and then the division symbol to the right of the 9.

Question with how the airspeed indicator works. If the drain hole is only for to extract the water out of the pitot tube, why does the airspeed indicate a drop when the pitot tube is blocked while the drain hole is not? I'm assuming that the ram air pressure(dynamic + static) in fact does flow out through the drain hole. Am I correct?
@asa2fly
@asa2fly 8 жыл бұрын
+Karl lee , From the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge: The pitot system can become blocked completely or only partially if the pitot tube drain hole remains open. If the pitot tube becomes blocked and its associated drain hole remains clear, ram air no longer is able to enter the pitot system. Air already in the system vents through the drain hole, and the remaining pressure drops to ambient (outside) air pressure. Under these circumstances, the ASI reading decreases to zero, because the ASI senses no difference between ram and static air pressure. The ASI no longer operates since dynamic pressure can not enter the pitot tube opening. Static pressure is able to equalize on both sides since the pitot drain hole is still open. The apparent loss of airspeed is not usually instantaneous but happens very quickly. www.asa2fly.com/Pilots-Handbook-of-Aeronautical-Knowledge--P1226.aspx

Hello Karl, You may need to read the entire chapter in the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge in order to understand the pitot-static system better. Check with your instructor for clarification.

For those wondering I recently used the ASA prepware to get ready for the private pilot rotorcraft written test. I used the online program along with the prepware app on my smartphone. I'm happy to say I scored a 95%. Follow the program and you'll have no problem understanding and passing the test.

@asa2fly
@asa2fly 9 жыл бұрын
leading_edge Thanks for you question. You don't have to start at 100, it's just a suggestion. The distances between the numbers on this scale are all the same. You can start at 50 if you like. 14 kts is 14 kts whether you start at 100 and count up or at 50. The end result is the same.

Just read where today changes were being made to the questions on the knowledge exam. I know you mentioned October as to when to look for changes, I am very close to setting the date to take the Private written. After reading that today don't know if I need to wait for what's new to study for? Any insight is welcomed!
@asa2fly
@asa2fly 10 жыл бұрын
1124golfnut - Today's changes to the knowledge exam are a step towards the new ACS. Ambiguous questions are being removed so as to not waste a test takers time on subjects that do not apply to practical the practical exam. You should prepare for the knowledge exam as you have been, but you can skip studying the questions mentioned here by the FAA: www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/media/whats_new_par_tests.pdf Stay posted of changes to the tests by signing up at asa2fly.com/testupdates . We hope to have updates posted soon to reflect the changes that occured today.

So...are the pilot handbooks still good for study material? (i.e. The pilot handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge)
@asa2fly
@asa2fly 10 жыл бұрын
Yes, Joseph. Continue to study and prepare as you have been. Nothing has changed yet. The changes discussed in the video are still in the works, and will not occur until at least October of this year. Once the change occurs, students will likely find the handbooks even more useful - since the ACS correlates the ground and flight training, as well as all the tests involved with the certification process. So rather than having to remember a particular sentence from a specific handbook, you’ll instead learn how to apply the information in the handbooks to safe flight operations.

Thanks for your comment Pfsif -- Vso is stalling speed in the landing configuration. It just so happens that the example altimeter shown is most likely referring to an aircraft with fixed gear (C172). If you take, for example, a Piper Arrow that has retractable gear, Vso would be the stalling speed with gear and flaps down. Therefore, Vso is not just specially relating to a condition with the flaps down. Additionally, Vso is specific to stalling configuration and Vfe is a structural-integrity number. They are not direct opposites. You can find additional information on performance speeds in chapter 10 of the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge FAA-H-8083-25A.

Carlos S. Hello Carlos, You can check for updates within your software by going to the Help menu and choosing 'Check for Updates'. If you have an older version of software and the version you have is not eligible for updates, you will need to purchase a newer version of prepware. You can find those here: www.asa2fly.com/Prepware-Pilot-and-AMT-C578.aspx
