You need 40 seashells for the sword upgrade, which doubles attack like the red tunic. But having just the red tunic is already overkill already. I had the most trouble on the next dungeon, Eagle Tower.

The Gameboy Color version seems to have really bad translations. The color dungeon boss hint made zero sense.
@Namington2 жыл бұрын
Translation seems fine to me. The color thing at the beginning was just a long way of saying, "we are two different colors", and it was purely a check to see that you could tell the two colors apart. Unless I am misunderstanding.

that's a LOT of rooms for the battle arena.
@Namington3 жыл бұрын
It also has several enemies which only appear in it. In fact, two of those drop the other two elemental cards: Unicorn and Black Dog. The Unicorn summon is notable becuase it heals you for a bunch, but the only place you would ever need that...is the battle arena. Of course, if you're exploiting the card swap bug(or just magician mode), there's a *ton* you can do throughout the game using Unicorn and Black Dog.
@Namington3 жыл бұрын
I should note, while the Battle Arena does continuously drain your MP to zero, you actually can still use magic in there, as long as you use some kind of mind up and *immediately* use the magic. So, if you don't mind bug exploits, the thing you would normally do is card swap to cast the unicorn summon so you can get a big heal.

@crystalcolland77963 жыл бұрын
Number on main screen is the number of deaths. Some rooms have a "boss" monster (not like a dungeon boss, but like a main enemy) that if you kill it, the rest on the screen disappear (though there is no way to distinguish it). Just some thoughts that I actually knew the answer to. LOL

@Namington3 жыл бұрын
I really do enjoy using the Shotvolver. It would be only usable in shotgun mode in some wads, but I'd love to have it as part of the normal weapon rotation in Brutal Doom in general. I'm not sure what weapon pool you'd add it to, though. Maybe Chaingun/Machinegun.

Thanks for the vid. It's the only vid I found that covers this pretty popular mod (which is strange). Could you list some of the biggest changes this mod introduces, that in your opinion elevates it above the original game?
@Namington4 жыл бұрын
Probably the most notable change is that it allows for multiple methods of earning gold, instead of just trading posts with a marketplace. After that, I'd say the most important change is rebalancing the heroes so that their power gains from leveling are more reasonable.

Thanks for showing off this mod! Always good to come across a fellow fan of this fantastic game. I tend to ask this question of anyone who likes Majesty... which games do you know that are similar in playstyle to this? I know of some, but there aren't anywhere near enough that make use of autonomous units that you only influence indirectly. It's more of a simulation game than an RTS in that way, which is sadly the very thing that the sequel (as in Majesty 2, not the expansion) did not do so well at. In Majesty 2, if you get rangers, they won't just go out and explore because that's what they like to do. You need to do everything with reward flags. Also, do you know if there is any chance this mod will be worked on further? (EDIT: looked in the comments, looks like no plans for now, although you yourself suggested you might attempt to debug at least the 0.19 crashes at some point if you work up the nerve. Best of luck, if you do!) Oh, and one more thing... have you heard of the browser game Majesty: Heroes of Ardania? If so, what do you think of it? Sorry for the long comment & the many questions! Thanks again for the video.
@Namington4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I really don't know of any games that really share the same magic of indirect control that Majesty has. Majesty 2 had potential, but it sadly just didn't live up to the original. I haven't heard of the browser game you mentioned. But, as you saw, there's no indication of further development, since the creator mysteriously vanished. Since I've still not gotten around to learning how to fix the problems with 0.19, the best I can do is make sure everyone has access to 0.10, since the link provided by the creator did not work and no one else had a copy of it sitting around apparently. This is a truly fantastic mod, and it really deserves more than I'm giving it.
@Phagocytosis4 жыл бұрын
@@Namington That's a shame, on both counts. I really do wish the genre would get more love, if not from new games, then from fantastic mods such as this one. I'm glad you're doing your part at least to spread the word a bit. I hope you do more streams on it later on. I'm currently watching the second and last one you did :)
@BuzzKirill3D4 жыл бұрын
@@Phagocytosis one obvious suggestion is the Dungeon Keeper series - 1, 2 and various spin-offs and spiritual successors (my favorite among them is KeeperRL which combines DK formula with a roguelike RPG where, after building your dungeon up, you can raid other factions). It's a bit older than Majesty, and if dated graphics are an issue, then you might give War for the Overworld a try - from what I understand it's a basically a DK2 clone with some bells and whistles. Also, there's Majesty for Android and iPhone, and it's surprisingly good! while it simplifies some mechanics and changes others, it's basically a real Majesty game on your phone, I really liked it.
@Phagocytosis4 жыл бұрын
@@BuzzKirill3D Thank you very much for these suggestions! I did play Dungeon Keeper games back in the day-I don't remember them having quite as much autonomy for the units as Majesty does, but they were still very fun games. As for the others, I'll have to check them out later. Much appreciated :)
@mattk389184 жыл бұрын
@@Phagocytosis I’d recommend checking out Ruinarch on Steam. You play as an evil overlord with the goal of wiping out the AI villages on a given map. You can be as discreet or brutal as you prefer by applying curses, phobias, and plagues on townspeople or launching meteors at them. The game is in early access, but still great fun if you’re looking for a simulation game.

I don't know why I don't like Scythe. The atmosphere of it is quite solid, and overall it's pretty.. doom-ish? But still, it's all the way brick and brown and red, too oppressing if played for 30+ minutes.

I dunno, the style changes every 5 levels, at least in the sequel here. Still, not everything is for everyone. I personally love Scythe2, but I absolutely loathe level 26.

I use OBS. I'm sure I can do this level faster than I did, but speed isn't strictly my goal, I just do it to have fun, and give people a good grasp of what Brutal Doom is like. Have you done it that quickly on Hard Realism specifically, or on the old Realism difficulty? The difference is not large, either way.
