I have a 1949 series 60 special Fleetwood, that I use for my long distance drives. around 400 miles round trip. I use to have a 1976 Fleetwood. My favorite one was a 1955 Fleetwood with factory air conditioner. All three were Black. ( NO WHITEWALLS) I would like to find another1955 Fleetwood with air, that still works. ANY COLOR.

Any chance you have the link for the switch or the brand and part number for the switch. I found every switch but that one at AutoZone and only the entire assembly on line.

Mine is not pulling down. Haynes manuals are completely useless on all things electrical. It doesn't even have a section acknowledging there is a trunk pull down system. I pulled mine and ran jumpers to the motor and it retracted. I reinstalled it and out of habit I plugged the harness back to the switch. When I did the damn motor extended. I was just wanting the lid to shut low enough to keep water out. I didn't expect the motor to engage at all as it wouldn't retract. I felt like a dumbass when it extended. After I threw my tools out. And the crap back in the trunk. I slammed it and started applying calamine on the countless mosquito bites I collected while having my ass handed to me by my car. I I tried checking continuity on the switch when I had the unit apart but with no schematic in the Hanes manual I couldn't tell much. I did find that with the small lower switch in the lower position I had continuity on one terminal that switched to another when I clicked the switch upward. And similar results with the large paddle switch engaged or disengaged. I've been trying to find the latch assembly but it's been discontinued by Cadillac and every one I found online was not available. I'll see if I can find the switch itself. Caution to those working on this assembly. The casing of the worm gear that the motor mounts to and is what attached the assembly to the metal brace in the truck is acrylic. It's fragile and the bolts that secure it are coarse threaded. There are three bolts that hold it in place. Don't fully install any of the bolts until you have all three successfully started. When you're sure they are threading in correctly hold the assembly to the brace and gently tighten the bolts. Just snug. Don't crank it down as it will brake the assembly

Really enjoyed the video and would love to see more like it. Suggestions of mine would be headliner replacement or replacing the other fillers. Maybe retrofitting some new opera lights.

I apologize I had to delete my comment really quick I messed something up what I wanted to say was the r12 it allows the compressor to run at the proper revolutions per minute along with the drive pulley? R14 isn't really as potent or as dense and doesn't expand as much as I believe a gas if I'm explaining this correctly?, the r12 is heavier and allows the compressor to run that a normal capacity and rate.

Growing up as a kid I've driven in tons of these with my dad, he worked on cars for over 50 years and at this time? The first Cadillac was a Cadillac I worked on which was a 1992 Fleetwood brougham he walked me through a oil change brake lines? And cleaning out the air filter, and at the end of that day the first time I actually paid attention to riding in this vehicle I was about 9 years old there was never another vehicle that I love to ride in more than this? I wish Cadillac would get back in the game because they would make so much money and have so much more pride in this country if they went back to making a 10-year anniversary edition every 10 years? Bringing back the 1990 Fleetwood brougham, or my personal opinion in the 1974 Fleetwood talisman, the 230 inch body and a 30-inch wheelbase as well as a 686 cubic inch engine I believe? I don't know I get sentimental, I absolutely love Cadillacs, there's something about them I don't know what it is? I almost had my hands on one before I bought a Chevy suburban but the whole f****** frame run it out? I wasn't going to put the bill because all the lines were destroyed it was just too much money I didn't have the time smfh, but you know what I bought instead 2006 Chevy suburban 1500 so it wasn't a total loss lol, thank you for showing us and taking the time to go through this vehicle and showing the younger generation why they're so important this is the Pinnacle of the absolute golden Pinnacle of American motors.

Decades ago, when bleche-wite was owned by Westley's, it was easily the best white wall and tire cleaner on the market. It was fully color safe too. But once Black Magic bought it, they diluted it down and it's nowhere near the cleaner it once was.

I normally love my cars(especially Cadillacs) to be 100% original/stock. But I have to admit that i love what the seller did with the pin stripe. The Gold color over the original white classes up this Brougham in such a sutle but elegant way. I would have never thought to use that color but kudos for how it came out. Just a beautiful color combination.
@klwthe3rd3 ай бұрын
The official color for this car with WA8525 is Yellow Beige. According to records, this paint was used on Cadillacs from 1985 through 1987. I have to agree with the seller that this color makes this car. I'm not normally a fan of the 1986 transitional model Fleetwood Broughams but this car is neck snappingly beautiful. Hope it went to a good home with someone who will treasure it.

Well you have may favorite car of all time! I owned the same 64’ Fleetwood during my senior year in HS and sold it 5-6 years later. Gas prices were high and traveling to work made it difficult. I’ve owned 31 vehicles over the years but still in search of this 64’ Fleetwood. Thanks for sharing.

To fix those door Striker pins for the doors rattle when you close them, you get some Vise Grip Pliers and unscrew the pin, take the washers off and get a piece of PEX pipe that new plastic plumbing and you slice off sections to replace the nylon Striker pin that is dried up and cracked and falling off it's an inexpensive way to fix the door closing problem. I've had four of these cars I have three d Elegance, that are project Vehicles cuz they came from northern states with salt damage I would go with bed liner for the vinyl top. I like the mirror window tint on mine, Blends in with the Chrome nicely the interior door bulbs and the ones under the dash I would find some Led once because those cars were notorious for a fuse blowing in the dash lights underneath the dash would stay on and you come out to a dead battery the next day.

This is in truly amazing condition for the mileage! The grille alone is fantastic and speaks to how well taken care of this car was, not to mention the great condition of the lacquer paint. I have an academy gray 1989 Brougham d’Elegance myself currently at 79k and it is nice, but not nearly as pristine as this car.
@DavidPysnik5 ай бұрын
My grandfather had this year Fleetwood Brougham in the exact same color back when they were new. I don’t recall, but his may have been a d’Elegance. I later owned a 1986 Fleetwood Brougham d’Elegance myself, but in the light driftwood metallic color, if I recall the name correctly. It was a solid and reliable car. The 307 has to be tuned right and then it runs with sufficient power. The 307 gets a bad rap for being slow as many old ones need some TLC, and though not a race car like you said, they are pleasant for normal driving if running right. Unfortunately rust eventually got it, but I replaced it with a 1989 version.

January 11, 2024 Beautiful 1991 Brougham Silver de Elegance. $29,000 though is steep for my purse. But it's like buying a new Brougham being low in mileage. Manufacturers should still make the 1990 - 1991 Broughams because they are still very much liked. I have a 1990 and have had 7 offers for it. Please keep me informed on other Broughams of that year that's in good condition please. Thank you.

Took one out of a 93' yesterday and due to inavailability of the part I disassembled the switch. It is possible to drill out the rivets but the large one where the mounting screw passes through was harder then the small ones to get out. The contacts were pretty gummed up inside but I was able to clean them and reassemble the switch and it worked fine again.

The material filler below the license plate stays fresh and pliable due to your oily hands always back there to put gas in it,, at least that’s my guess
