This made me feel so much better. My dog Lola used to do that “relaxed” lip licking when I would give her pets and I thought I was making her uncomfortable or anxious. What a relief!

Why put cesar millan in? Some I agree did look abusive but Cesar had to restrain the dog or else he would litteraly have gotten bit, and yes quote "calm and submissive" but that is true? The dog learned he couldn't just attack people and of course, he stopped. That isnt shutting down. im assuming your a force free trainer who thinks treats and hugs fix behavioral problems in dogs, your delusional.

Hello! Glad that Zani is better now. I've got a question. How did you get him to poop especially since there's weakness in the hind legs? My dog concussed as well and is constipated :(
@eileenanddogs2 ай бұрын
Hi! I hope your dog gets better and better. I was able to step in and hold Zani up if she tried to poop. This didn't work with peeing; she wanted to stay a certain distance away. But once she started trying to poop, I think she was kind of stuck there, so I was able to come hold her up. I had done a ton of that with my little rat terrier earlier, who lost the strength in her rear legs. Good luck to you and your pup!

My dog bites my hand, and only stops when I pet him, sometimes turning the bites into licks or just leaving my hand in his mouth sucking. He has trained me that “bite hand” means pet, and he will only stop when he gets what he wants. I should note that the mouthing doesn’t hurt, it’s just annoying, especially first thing in the morning.

I have a chihuahua and almost all touches are on his terms. I just leave him alone to exist unless he directly comes to me. It seems mean to do that but I've just found he really isn't a 'touchy' dog. He will get in bed with me and lay by my feet but he does not like eye contact or pets after he's already laying down, unless you pet him with your foot - strangely enough. Haha. He also has spots on his body he doesn't like touched. He's not hurt, he just doesn't like it. I figure maybe it's just too sensitive/ticklish for him? So I stick to head, neck and back pets when he comes to me. No side or belly scratches. He hates that. And I mostly leave him alone if he doesn't come to me. He will tolerate being picked up and prefers to be if someone he doesn't know comes into the house because it helps him calm down. But he's got his little quirks. I've just had to learn what those are so I could work around them. Each dog comes with their own little personalities. And if we are being fair, I don't like being bothered if I'm trying to nap either so I can't blame him there. Haha.

Did Cricket ever need to be sort of "aimed" toward her food bowl? My dog is a pekingese and sometimes he seems confused about where his bowl is, I just make sure to adjust him a little and, once he smells the food (he's a snub nosed breed), he excitedly eats. Khan is a 16 year + 2 month old pekingese.

In early 2023 my dachshund that was 18 years old at the time. He was howling a lot, growling a little bit and he was very confused of his surroundings. He at some point almost forgot who I was and was acting very strange. I took him to the vet because he was getting his prescription written up at a different vet and I told them about his strange behavior and why he’s acting up. We went over his symptoms and they examined him, they immediately told me that me that my dachshund had Alzheimer’s disease. They said that’s why he is having his symptoms and I was in complete shock of this and I asked them is he gonna have to take medications for this and they said No we are sorry but all you can do is monitor him and keep a good eye on him because he is a very old dog and there is really nothing we can do from here. The vet said all we can do for you is if it worsens then you need to call us and bring him back. His 13 year old little dog brother took extremely good care of him while I was at work during the day and he even cleaned his face and always slept right next to him every night because he was very protective of him. My 13 year old dog Dulles died of a heart attack in June 2023. I still had issues with my dachshunds Alzheimer’s and it was getting worse, I would call the vet and ask them for advice. They said it’s normal and he will be alright, Killer would always fly thru with flying colors. In October 2023 my dachshund died of natural causes related to old age at age 19 years old. 😢😢

I don't know if she is in any pain, no outward signs of that. But I know that day is coming. It's sad that we outlive them.

Bless her heart. Our 13 yr old Aussie is doing the same things except for the circle walking. But early in the morning on our first walk, she'll nip at our heels to keep us in line due to her herding instinct. The rest of the day she slows down. A pain pill in a pill pocket helps. Gotta love these gifts from God.

I laid down near my skittish new rescue dog to be more approachable, and he scooted over to me to cuddle. I petted his chest gently, and he leaned into me & gave kisses! So at that moment, he did want (and got) gentle petting. I stopped a few times, just to check, but he was very into it. I love the idea of building his confidence by empowering him to choose petting or pass! Thank you!

Why, when comparing reward based training to force based training do the presenters ALWAYS show examples of really poor training in the force based training and examples of good training when showing reward based training? Wouldn't it be more honest to show good examples of both, and maybe bad examples of both?

How did you get a recording of the sounds, and also how did you change the heartz? I’m so interested in this topic! My Dinah got a fright by the fire alarm when she was young and very afraid of it. However, does great with fireworks as we counter conditioned when she was young.

Thanks for this video. I had to put my 17 year old beautiful girl Bongo to sleep last week, just before xmas.Been watching her go downhill this year with her legs, confusion, not sleeping at night, peeing in her sleep. She went downhill kinda fast, was still running around and jumping in July, then hurt her leg and everything seemed to kick in harder. Had her on the bed with me to help her sleep, but would wake up every 5 mins. I started leaving a blue light on at night so she wouldn't freak out as much. I couldn't watch her not being the active, smart girl she once was and had to make the hardest decision of my life, even though I knew it was coming for a while. My heart goes out to everyone who has to watch their loved one go through this.❤

I am thinking of a large dog weighing adaptor for typical human bathroom scale. My idea is to find or cut the right sized plywood and then exacly in it's center create a foot or feet that fit most of the human scale surface next secure something like tennis balls or whathave you on the corners just enough so it can never tip much. The idea is to put the assembly on the scale (cut a viewing window to read weight if neccessary) then with leash carefully get dog balanced on scale and read the result! Of course you will need to subtract the weight of the platform assembly from the total to be accurate! Im thinking the easiest most accurate way to weight platform assembly is to hold it why weighing yourself and just subtract your weight without holding it...duhhh How well it all works entirely depends on how calm and obedient your dog is

Such a cute pup. My old dude Leon is startin to barely show some of these signs. He has to look a bit when I come home to make sure it's me. He sometimes goes outside to go potty and just stands there until I point and tell him to go potty. But he does the same dancing and jumping at food time and always has. He still knows when it's time too and will get up and stand or sit there staring at me until I get up to get his food ready. Cricket sure looked like she had a good life!!
