What's the difficulty level for Charleston Peak full course ? from 1 to 10 vs other courses.

@@okaythen001 it’s the most challenging and rewarding course that I’ve run. It very quickly became my favorite track and nothing else comes close.

@@swiftbrian More challenging vs other courses? that's interesting can you elaborate more, like more technical etc? The 3 blind uphills look dangerous to me, if someone spun out there you can't see, so you gotta pay very close attention to flags. I am a beginner so....

@@okaythen001 yes, definitely more technical. High corner volume makes it difficult to pick up for a first timer as it is, especially with limited overall track experience. Throw in the off camber and blind corners and it makes for a very technical and difficult course. It’s not uncommon to have cars off track through the blind uphill complex and I have had close calls with cars running cool down laps at residential speeds in that section. It’s also common to see spins in turns 2, 3, 4, 8 and 9 in my experience, especially in colder morning sessions. Sight lines allow you to scan a few corners ahead for flags, but typically you’ll see dust clouds way before any flags. It’s a lot for a beginner, but certainly doable and relatively low risk. Like any track, take it slow until you’re comfortable and gradually add speed. If you can get quick at Charleston Peak I think you’ll have a very easy time getting up to speed anywhere else.

@@swiftbrian Yeah so the guy in front was doing cool down lap, you were still going, no one did anyting wrong so flag person didn't give warning like car ahead is very slow or anything right? that's so dangerous for the 3 blind turns ! Sometimes I miss one light/flag then I catch up on the next, I guess I need to watch every single one of them! anyways thanks so much that helped me a lot

Nice driving! We made a free tutorial for Charleston Peak for Porsche Owners Club. It’s in our playlist for Spring Mountain. We’d love your feedback. Lots of people upload their Garmin videos and we do an annotated coaching video to point out ways to get faster. I have a video of us coaching a GT3 driver and he improved several seconds. Great job.

Your tutorials (and conversations with you and Terry) have been very helpful. I know that I have personally recommended them as learning aids to other drivers and they have been referenced in driver's meetings with other organizations running at SM. Unfortunately the last few days/weekends at SM have been wet and I'm still 3-4s off my sub-2:30 goal. I plan to reach out for some assistance once I'm able to get more dry laps in.

Thanks! I targeted the low 2:30's but with so many cars in our group it was tough to get clean air for a whole lap. Still had a blast and have a lot of room for improvement next time I'm able to make the long drive out there. I remember seeing your car and love to see other Caymans in fun colors. How did your weekend go?

@@swiftbrian Excellent w/e but got a lot of exercise pointing all the fast cars by. I drove from Neb. Had to drive from Austin to my sister's in Dallas after Sun - wasn't looking forward to that 3.5 hr drive after being on the track all day, but made it to her house Sun and back to Neb on Mon. Sun afternoon sessions were easier to get more open track as more drivers went home. And love your color too. Sure better than the normal silver, black, or white. My other car is an orange 08 Boxster S Limited Edition.

@@terrylessmann2274 Sounds like you're well on your way to building out the Skittles dream garage! We were both down on power compared to many of the cars in our group so I also set a new PB for point bys given. Our drive time was probably pretty close, it was 17 hours one way for us. We also did a 3.5 hour drive after the last session on Sunday and were exhausted by the time we got to the hotel. Wish it would have been a three day event but still worth the drive.

Garmin Catalyst. Video is shot with the included camera and then the video with overlays is exported from the tablet.
