Hard to pick a favorite on this album, but this would be it!

It's still as beautiful as the first day I heard it.

Dan did a great deal of research to ensure that the music in this album was both accurate for the 15th century and deeply soulful and respectful to his faith. What a grand Christmas gift he gave us all! Thank you Dan!

The song, "Christ the King" matches the steps to a Baroque dance called, "Hole in the Wall". I wonder if he knew that. Every time I hear it, I image some English manor house filled with couples dancing to this!

Dan was raised by a devoutly Christian mother and retained those beliefs and values throughout his life I believe. In his quest to heal Mother Earth, he did embrace Native American values as well as he said in an interview during the 1991 Concert Video "Greetings From the West". But this Christmas album came out afterward in 1999 and it is very apparent that he had deep beliefs in Christianity. Personally, I did the same thing but never forgot my roots so you can trust that Dan is with Jesus.

I remember going there a couple of years ago during winter break. It's really cool, especially since he plays everything without sheet music

Who is this organist? He's GREAT!! Having performed at one of these venues 100 years ago in my 20s, it isn't an easy gig. To arrange this with all the drum hits, percussion and still keep it recognizable is quite a feat!

Wow! I remember being there so many years ago! At that time, the organ was hooked up to several other instruments all around the room. It was amazing to hear it play the chattanooga choo choo song. :)

JMEAgle, I too have had one of those "Dan Magic Moments". Years ago I was working at a retail store that piped in music. As I was walking to the front of the store after being paged by my manger Dan's song "Longer" started playing. When I saw that my manager was holding a bouquet from my hubby for our wedding anniversary I knew the timing of the song couldn't have been more perfect since "Longer" is "our song".

It is Kay Mcabee.
@Organsk8er12 жыл бұрын
Funny, because at certain angles, it looks like it could be Kay maybe 10 or 15 years ago...but just based on the playing alone, this is clearly not only definitely NOT Kay, but definitely IS Charlie...lol One of my very favorites.
@AnOrganCornucopia12 жыл бұрын
Nope, that's not Kay! As far as I know Kay McAbee never played at OSP (at least not on a regular basis). Anyhow, Kay is dead, more's the pity. This is definitely Charlie Balogh - as the man himself and his colleague Lew Williams confirmed!

What almost suprises me is how many people can sit around with this thing putting on a show - and everyone just sits there yacking their heads off like there's nothing going on. STFU people, can't you appreciate this enormous, awesome work of art in front of you? I mean, you don't see one every day...and there're hardly any left! Ha, kinda like ignoring the 800# gorilla in the room! Maybe it's just me.

@fujitsulifebooke342 This organ has, along with its many pipes and sounds, a digital Boss DR-660 drum machine that plays its own digital samples, as well as controlling the real traps and percussion instruments around the room. It's one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

I prayed since 1985 for Dan Fogelberg to become a Christian, and while I never knew if he did or not, when I saw this CD in the record store about 2005, I felt joy in knowing that the possibility might exist! Now, I'm not telling anyone what to believe--and I've always loved Dan Fogelberg! But when he died in 2007, all true Dan Fans were deeply shocked and saddened! It gave me comfort to think he might be running into the arms of Christ, My saviour! In Christ's Love, BobbyK Marry Christmas!

Driving home tonight, radio station 106.7 Lite FM played Dan Fogelberg " Same Auld Lang Syne", I noticed the clock was at 8:13 p.m., isn't that Dan's Birthday August 13? It's such a treasure they are playing Dan Fogelberg at this very moment, just like a magic, I can feel the holiday warmth around me with Dan singing that song, although it was not snowiing, we miss you Dan! I just wanted to share with you my encounter with Dan on the way home tonight! Holiday greeting to you my friends! Bill

@ArchAngel4275 When you ask professional guitar players, Free Bird usually ranks near the top of "All Time Over Played / Requested Too Often" songs. Mustang Sally is usually pretty far up the list as well.

2/17/11 It's alive and well. I was there last week. Well worth the time. Very busy. the place holds 500 people and on a Thursday night it was very busy. What an organ and it's MIGHTY BIG. Lots of toys. cool the way it rises and swivels.
