3:35 DM 45 isn't much money for a consumer microphone. You could easily pay about 100 and more for a microphone.
@verkehrsteilnehmer-berlin4 күн бұрын
2:58 at this time it was usual, that consumer tape recorders were equipped with piezo electric microphones, an magnetic dynamic microphone was a better one.

In technology we should avoid sentence "as much as possible". We need instead sentence "as good (as much, as low) as is practicaly needed". This would be right guidance also to constructors. I wanted also to have linear tracking but after deliberation I found that when it comes to vintage B&O amazing pros will not cover hard cons. So I use B&O Beogram 1700 traditional - only thing I did was replacing pickup for best for this model. Works no problem for 10 years, it's automatic and no any LP scratch happened so far. No skipping and best resistsance to vibrations. I convinced myself that it is "as good as practicaly needed" by comparison of the same albums paralell play by B&O CDdisc and with this turnatable with over switching the same moments within piece of second while played thouugh common very high quality system. The differences were not easy noticeable and no possible to find out which is the better at least for me . Because on other hand LP record is original 59 years old and CD obviously much younger and digital and they are so close.. So linear tracking is still my far wish list but only as secondary to main traditional. I only do not know how to place such two in compact system .

I had a Realistic LAB-1500. Definitely NOT high-end hardware. One of my albums, Olivia Newton-John's Greatest Hits, Vol. II, had a bad scratch which would cause an angled tone-arm to skip badly. My linear-tracking LAB-1500 could play the entire album without skipping or sticking. It had the repeat function. It also had optical sensors to determine which size record you put in it, so it wouldn't drop the cartridge / stylus on the bare turntable. I really wanted the model from Sansui which had two tone-arms and could play both sides of the record without needing to flip it.

This is not recording digital audio. The moment you play a digital file through a headphone output, it becomes analog. For recording digital you'd need a digital media such as a MiniDisc recorder, a DCC tape recorder or DAT tape recorder. And not via an analog headphone jack but via an optical cable.
@soundelegy5987Ай бұрын
It's a digital file into an analog format. The wording might not be technically accurate but regular folks understand that better than audiophile language.

Amorphous heads are made from glass and therefore last longer (technically). The trebles are supposed to be clearer as well. They were introduced in the late 80s

Consumers doesn't need balanced and I have doubts, that any consumer tape was equipped with balanced inputs. When they started to offer power mixers with speakers with the goal to amplify the vocals in a loud orchestra, non balanced inputs were also used for microphones. It came later, that live equipment became more and more closer to studio equipment.

The title of this is extremely misleading, you aren't recording digital audio onto a cassette your recording the analog output of a digital source onto a cassette you are not recording digital audio. The title of this video implies that you're actually able to digitally record your signal on to an analog cassette
@soundelegy59875 ай бұрын
I think the title is extremely accurate. It's been online for 4 years and this is the first time I hear this. So all good :) If you think "How to record the analog output of a digital source onto a cassette tape" is a better title then you're not considering simplicity as a way to reach a broader audience. Most people just want their music coming from a phone or laptop onto a cassette. For them that's just digital to analog.
@bdwatkins20015 ай бұрын
@@soundelegy5987 you may think the title is extremely accurate but if you were an audio professional you would know the difference and know why your title is incorrect. I'm not going to waste any more time but quit trying to bury things in the sand
@soundelegy59875 ай бұрын
And that's exactly why you're mistaken. You think this video is meant for audio professionals, maybe like yourself, but it's actually for regular folks with basic to no knowledge of the audiophile lexicon. That's why the title is spot on.

Is it a big deal whether my device says mic or line in? I've read mic is meant for weaker signals and the sound will come out distorted. But many of the portable devices I've seen only have a mic input.
@soundelegy59875 ай бұрын
It really depends on the model. A line in port will work pretty much every time but a mic in could be only mono or a low level signal.

Hey there! Hehe I'm still around :) The belt should just be extended but not stretched out. There should be no extra tension apart from the one needed to lay it down flat.
