Sounds good. Whats the story of thsy guitar. Is it a partscaster?
@nathanpollard3368Ай бұрын
Thank you 😊. It was made from scratch, from some oak and poplar. I would’ve never made a telecaster, no matter who’s it was if it wasn’t for one of my lecturers at uni who said he played one. After that I gave them a chance and I discovered they were actually great guitars. For this one, I like Johnny Marr’s guitar tone. Many Smiths songs were done on a telecaster. In 1984, Johnny received a green guest telecaster from his girlfriend Angie, build by Roger Griffiths (I think). And I liked the look of it. Also, it is the only telecaster which looks like that and I wanted one, so I made one. I’ve made a slideshow of the build process and I’m going to post that at some point when I’ve finished editing it.
I think the tone of your lead guitar on this one is better than Johnny's. It sounds more whimsical.

You're very talented to be able to do all of that by yourself. I used to like taking on projects like this when I was younger, but I don't have the time and energy now.

I love those Dremel cutting discs! I routed a hole in the top of my old Country Club to add a 3rd pickup. You have skills!
@nathanpollard33683 ай бұрын
Thank you very much 👍. They are very useful, but I must admit, for cutting metal, they aren’t great. They kept exploding and I must’ve gone through 15 or 20. I’m using the angle grinder now, but I didn’t have any discs for it at the time, and that’s much better.

Wilkinson makes good stuff. I replaced my garbage Grover tuners on my 2022 Gretsch with their tuners and they are 100 times better in my opinion. Cool guitar build!
@nathanpollard33683 ай бұрын
I like their hardware too. Good quality for what you pay. Although, I got some open back ones, like Waverley tuners, for that black and white tulip guitar I made, and they are a little difficult, but I think they might just be an individual defect, because I got some different ones and they were alright

I would've thought that it could have been achieved electronically rather than trying to emulate the 366.
@nathanpollard33683 ай бұрын
as in with the comb feature?
@chrisst89223 ай бұрын
@@nathanpollard3368 Yeah, you'd need 12 pole pieces presumably unless a circuit could discriminate the pitch. There's probably a pedal that does it already but it'd be cool to achieve it with a 6/12 switch on the guitar.
@nathanpollard33683 ай бұрын
@@chrisst8922 I don’t think 12 pole pieces would eliminate the field of the higher octave strings because the other 6 would also pick up the vibrations. There are pedals which can produce 12 string sounds, but I don’t think there are any which produce 6 string sounds. There bight be, I don’t know. I thought about using a mechanical mute system rather than pinning the strings down, but I like the design.

Nice build! Did you make the vibrato yourself?
@nathanpollard33684 ай бұрын
Yes I did, out of some 2-3 mm mild steel and a big shy spring. I based it off a Hagström vibrato which is very simple to make. It stays in tune surprisingly well considering I made it. I’ll put up another video at some point documenting the build process.

I forgot to put that in the description- it’s oak. The same as the neck. It was from some old kitchen cupboard doors.

It does look a little like a Danelectro now you mention it. This is the guitar I based my design on- kzbin.info?event=comments&redir_token=QUFFLUhqa1hMQUxwU1JtQnp2NVNCa01QZWJpdmVPdldZd3xBQ3Jtc0tsbDVrREhLLUQwblJYb2tnRUVjN2NJVUlaWE9oMEU4U0pNa0ZYQ2F4d1VQWkpHb1RvZDRDWFoyR3UwWWllb1BwY3U3WXp5bFZ2SzVTSEhQblVKamlkNHozWnBUTnJwbWVJVjNrdDd1T21xVW1MNjJ6WQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Fcosmikguitare.com%2Fguitares%2Fcosmik-rick%2F&stzid=Ugxzzvdfr00VdPqLWed4AaABAg.A4irZIqK68YA4l40CdLX3H

To think...this is how Brian May and his dad vreated the now unique and sought after guitar that many want to buy! It started off as a strictly homemade affair.

What’s the sound called
@nathanpollard33684 ай бұрын
If you mean the background music, it’s just a few riffs I have been playing around with for a while and recorded. I aimed for a Smiths style.

@nathanpollard3368 You nailed it- I checked the description expecting to find a content ID for a Smiths song xD
@patricklow56524 ай бұрын
It's primitive but you created a unique and great sounding guitar without much luthier training behind you. I am in awe of people like you.
@nathanpollard33684 ай бұрын
It is simple yes, I based it off of this guitar: cosmikguitare.com/guitares/cosmik-rick/ which I absolutely love, because it has a Rickenbacker style with a strat sound. I wanted to replicate it but with a few mods, particularly with the hardware and the electronics. I haven’t got lots of experience at 19, I’ve only made about 5-6 guitars. I used to make them out of cardboard before I got to making proper ones

Are there tabs for the second guitar?
@nathanpollard33684 ай бұрын
I haven’t found any. I just isolated the guitar part and spent ages playing it until it sounded right. I would make tabs, but I don’t know how to
