How to change ones mindset?

This was so helpful. I actually have more characteristics of a fixed mindset than I thought. And to think I thought I had a growth mindset 🤦🏾‍♀️ But now that I know exactly what to improve on, I'll do better.

For some reason I think of the line in Shrek, where Donkey says that they've got layers like a cake, not an onion. Be the chessmaster as in "takes the cake" (destiny) not the fated pawn "giv'er the onions" i.e. win the day/task versus a reason to cry (good or bad).

I've dealt with this a lot over the years, worst of all with family. It's definitely a challenge, to say the least, especially when the people I deal with exhibit heavy narcissistic traits; I can barely stand even being in the same room with most of them at a time. Unfortunately, they won't change, even when making them aware of their behaviour, but I guess it's a fool's game. I'll need to really consider what you've said, as it is very valuable info to work with, mostly in regards to how I can better equip myself mentally to approach such difficult situations (and people).

Thanks for sharing this. I've definitely heard other feedback from people expressing the challenges of dealing with family members. It can be so challenging to feel like we are "tied" to certain people in our life, especially when they are family who we want (or should want) to have a relationship with.

The ability to rebound from a percieved failure or disappointment is a true testament of our resilience. Of course, that was never always the case with me, but over time I gradually stopped expecting things to go a certain way (albeit remaining hopeful) and learned to just flow with the circumstances as they come; not resisting or becoming flustered by the unexpected, resulting in a sense of grievance. As you mentioned, our ego can be a hindrance in our quest to achieve or take action, particularly by fostering fear and catastrophizing out of a means of "protection". A little quote by Epictetus that sticks with me on the subject: "Don't demand or expect that events happen as you would wish them do. Accept events as they actually happen. That way, peace is possible."

Love that quote! Allowing everything to flow and sometimes exceed our expectations feels so magical. I always feel better when I'm in the headspace of trusting the process even when I can't see how something could be good for me.

3:31 Clever wording - it's very true. So important not to stray from the present moment, although I'm guilty of doing so, as are many of us I'm sure. Personally, it's almost historically out of the "fear" of the unknown - "uncertainties" I wanted to make certain, but realizing how unrealistic it is trying to control whatever was out of my control. The past is also a factor; wishing certain things were different, what could/should have been if I had made smarter decisions, and that maybe somehow it's handicapped my ability to proceed with the future as ideally as possible. A mere lack of preparation and foresight on my part perhaps - but it is what it is. Nevertheless, simply letting go and returning to presence is a lesson I've taken to heart, though it's a work in progress. If I'm being honest, I don't feel I'm in the happiest place I could be often times, but remember that it could be worse. I guess it's a matter of just trying to make the best out of the hand we are dealt, and never taking the present for granted, as it is all we truly have in our control.

Incredibly attractive woman: "I DON'T LIKE DATING APPS!" Awesome, thanks for being *the* problem. You could literally find a hunk online, within a single solitary day, that would check 9500 out of 10000 boxes on that ratchet demand list but yet, here you are, whining about the process, that has been made beyond easy for women, mind you, up to even women with half of your attractiveness. Imagine lumping yourself and your message in with all the people that legitimately hate dating apps because they can go an entire week without getting 1 single decent match and rot on them for literal years, just because you're delulu and think 100% of the 300 men that would message you every day are beneath your "dream guy". You are you own absolute worst enemy and you have conditioned yourself to be so full of yourself that you would find faults with the perfect man if you were to date him. Just hair tearing-out insanity. Unfortunately, your same mindset of being too good for everyone to be bothered for even a single week online to net at least 10 ROCK SOLID connections, has permeated into all of western womens mindsets (yep, even the middle of the road ones with next to nothing to offer) which is marrying up perfectly with all time records of loneliness, divorce, native population collapse, misery, hopelessness, and on and on. An insidious message camouflaged behind a pretty girl persona. If I wasn't able to see straight through BS like this, I'm almost catching myself wanting to fall for this. Be aware that 95% of men and 60% of woman on online dating do not share the same "struggles" you do on OLD; This video is literally just for the narcissists. Oh, and for the record, those guys you're planning on meAting "organically" in real life, they're on OLD. Sorry to ruin the illusion that there is actually a dream guy under the next rock you overturn and he won't be online already if hes looking for a date. 🤣 This stuff is just Classic....

If you lose momentum it’s because you know you’re doing the wrong things. Once you are doing the right things you literally can’t stop. You go to bed excited to get up and obsess over your passion. If you don’t have a passion you need to, otherwise you end up watching videos like this. The real answer is to find the thing you can’t stop doing.

Being discontent with your surroundings is a sign of a chaotic unstable and desperate mind. All places are equal you cannot run from your problems or develop a personality by traveling. I personally don’t trust people who flee one country to seek refuge in another. The thing you’re looking for is not in some slightly different predominantly white country then your own predominantly white country. Notice how no one’s traveling to The Congo or Nigeria. I wonder why..? Because they don’t want to see a new culture and live differently. They want everything to be nearly exactly the same but still achieve the label of “world traveler”. Give me a break.
