I am having this now and its so frustrating 😫. Im being told now that my baby is measuring small again i am scheduled to have a csection at 38 weeks but now dr wants me to have him at 37 weeks😢 i want to have him at 38 weeks. He moves alot and everything is looking good. I got gestational diabetes my blood sugars were wild but im on a strict diet schedule too and i am takjng insulin and metformin. I think the metformin is restricting my baby from growing when i stopped taking it he was growing right on point and now im taking it again per dietician i feel like its restricting his growth. I see my MFM dr this friday so we will see if hes still in the 8th percentile.

I can’t imagine working night shift again! I did it as a PCT and I’m a senior now in nursing school and I’m already praying that I get a day shift

@@rosea6653 I hope you do! Most places hire to night shift unfortunately but that doesn’t mean there isn’t day shift some times! I was only on night for 4 months

@@whit3bliss77 I prefer regular! But I don’t tuck my shirts in. If you’re someone who tucks your shirts in then you might prefer it cause the fabric won’t be so bulky when you tuck it. But I wear regular and at this point I don’t even notice a difference. In general I prefer any shirt to hang lower in the front and cover my lady parts 😂😂 so all preference!

@@mckaylaslove my baby was measuring 3% nearly the entire pregnancy right up until the very end she got to 8%. She is now 1.5yrs old and welllll above that! She’s a shorty but so am I lol her lengths and arms were bringing down her percentile big time

Thank you for sharing your experience. I could not imagine hearing the news of an IUGR diagnosis without your spouse. After the doctor left, I burst in tears, and my spouse hugged me until I calmed. Baby got diagnosed at 20 weeks anatomy scan and will be induced at 37 weeks, which is in a few days. IUGR classifies as high-risk, so I also had NSTs twice a week and weekly ultrasounds. My baby is measuring at 4 percentile. It definitely is very anxiety and stress inducing, but got to have faith 🙏 and stay positive. Good luck to all the Mommies out there dealing with the same scenario.

@Lulu-of7oc Baby was born almost 5 pounds and now at 1 month she is 7 pounds. I strictly breastfeed. At birth she had issues with keeping blood sugar up and jandice but both resolved and we were able to get discharged together 2 days after birth. Thank God she did not need to be sent to the NICU. I have no doubt she will continue to grow. Doctors don't have any concerns 🙌

My first baby when I got my labor pains the Dr say he was too small that I needed one more month and they try to stop my labor but the next day I went to a high risk Dr and he said they baby was small but he was healthy so the next day my labor came again and I had him he was 4pounds 13 once but he was healthy my placenta stop feeding him at one time cuz I was very nervous with the killer Richard Ramires . but he gain they weight fast and now he's a 38 year old man and he's measures 5,10 tall.

@@MercedesMartinez-yj3wl definitely get the regular length! The waist band all depends how you want it to fit! I wear high waisted and regular now I like both! I wear xxs in tops and bottoms now because I like the more fitted feel. The xs tops fit me better but they were too low cut for me and my small chest 😂 you could probably do xs in pants or small. The high waisted are much tighter and harder to get over the butt but for perfect once I squeeze into them. Regular waist goes on easily. Neither fall down! I’d say try a few sizes. Their return policy is great and super easy!

I’m only 5’1 and around 115 lbs before I got pregnant. They’re telling me I need to do another growth scan after my 30 week scan since my baby is small at 14th percentile… I googled and the normal range is between the 10-90th percentile. Going along with it but it seems like they’re trying to scare me for no reason

I’d assume they’re just trying to make sure the baby is continuing to grow. With iugr the placenta stops nourishing way before it’s supposed to which can slow down growth

Hi erika im having same problem got told yesterday at my growth scan that my baby head is measuring small! I am 37 weeks and through my pregnancy my baby has been absolutely normal cant put my head around it that now they telling me my baby head measurements are small and nearly of the chart for normal when my other scans she was growing fine! I was confused and nervous since yesterday. Dr told me it could be IUGR i didn't have a clue what that was as this is my third baby and my other 2 was normal my last pregnancy my girl was 8pounder she was bigger than her big bro was and she was 9 days late. My son (first born) was 1 week early. So all im trying to think about is that shes ok in there and that she will grow more i cant let them induce me as thats what they said they wanted me to have but next week they are doing an appointment to check for sure is it what they expect or did the sonographer got it little wrong! So will be going to the specialist next week to check for sure and if i find that she has grown little more then im not getting induced because i dont want problems for next pregnancies. Then in 2 weeks timr got to go back for a scan to check her measurements again. They said the blood flow to baby is normal so not sure whats going on im pretty sure my placenta is normal because all this time since being pregnant shes been growing fine right now im 37 weeks and baby is 5lbs 3onz i think thats good because when i had my son at 39 weeks he was 6lbs 6onz so lets hope for the best that its not a big deal and my baby comes natural and no complications

I’m so sorry to hear that! Is it just her head that is measuring small and nothing else? I hope you get some good news at your next appt! If you have to be induced it shouldn’t complicate other pregnancies. Especially since you’ve already had two babies, in theory your body should know exactly what to do to get baby out. The reason I was scared/ refused induction is because my first baby was a csection. I had 2 vbacs after but only because baby came on their own. With a csection the only option for induction is pitocin or a foley bulb due to risk of rupture so my best chances of vbacs is to not be induced.

@@Erika_Nicole yeah the dr said only the head because that's what they was on about for the whole conversation but I feel I don't want to get induced because it could be a misunderstanding as the dr said it might be a mistake that the sonographer did as on the charts of my other scans the head was fine so that's why the dr thought best if I go see the specialist drs first and get check over with them that will be next week then week after I will have another scan to see if her head has grown if I feel its grown then I will not want to get induced coz I see it's no point really as I will be 38 weeks on Tuesday and the time I get my other scan I will be 39 weeks and it might be nothing major that's my thoughts but I will only know this, this week coming! I have never had this problem before with my other 2 babies so it just scares me really I have always been healthy and I'm also strong in labour times my second pregnancy with my daughter 2 years ago they told me I opened pretty quickly and I was doing so great so why I can't have natural labour again just to wait for my baby to come herself. That's what I want for all my babies not drs saying ooh u need to be induced!! I'm not happy with induced because I heard it's more painful when pushing and contractions are more painful but not sure if that's true.

@@lola-sk1dd hi I was waiting for a letter to arrive from the specialist but nothing. I went Into labour 2 weeks ago and my baby was small but shes a strong little fighter. I had a emergency c section because her heart kept dropping on every contraction which I was very disappointed and upset about but I was guessing it was due to her size that she was a little weak and plus when my waters broke before contractions started she pooped inside me which means she was distressed in there already so I was guessing from then it wasn't gonna be a good delivery 😣 I send u my best of wishes for u and baby and do what is best if anything happens in labour. Good luck x

I’m “36” weeks pregnant. First pregnancy. First due date (based off of menstrual cycle) was may 25. After my 14 weeks ultra sound a nurse practitioner at a learning hospital said my baby was measuring 8 days larger and so they moved my due date to may 17. I switched my care to midwife at 6 months to prepare for a home birth. after she measured fundal height at my 35 week mark she said I am smaller than average. So I went in for an ultrasound at a new facility where the measurements came back “4th percentile” for 36 weeks. They assessed baby is measuring “5lbs”. Midwife told me baby might be IUGR which was such a strange thing to hear as I feel so healthy and ready for an unmedicated natural birth and do not want to be induced. My mom birthed 8 children and we were all 6 lb babies. I can’t wrap around my head that my baby “isn’t growing properly”. I can literally feel the growth inside! I get they’re giving me worst case scenario but how much of that is just stressing us out as mothers. I trust that my baby is healthy and will come out when they’re ready and this video gave me encouragement to take it day by day and trust my intuition. Thank you.

100% trust your intuition mama! Your baby still has plenty of time to put on some more ounces or lbs! Some babies truly are just small! Ultrasounds are not perfect and leave room for error when it comes to measuring every length of the baby! I believe physicians will always give worst case scenario to prepare you with all the facts but that doesn’t make it the end all be all! I had an unmedicated birth with my baby girl and I’m so glad I stuck to my gut and let her stay inside! Had I delivered at 37/38 weeks like they wanted she definitely would have been small and needed much time. Her being 4 days late tells me she needed more time 🫶🏼

Thank you for your honesty, transparency, and encouragement; it helps us nursing students and new grad nurses not to feel so alone. I will be graduating in about 8 months and last week at my clinical rotation I felt like a failure and honestly questioned whether or not I could be a competent nurse.

I’m so sorry to hear that mama 🫶🏼 sometimes there is an issue with the placenta or blood flow. Getting induced early isn’t the end of the world. I know it must be very scary for you! I’m a Nicu nurse now and I work with iugr or “tiny” babies all the time. You still have time for baby to grow! Sometimes babies just need time. If you haven’t already, try to increase your protein. I’m sure your docs have already told you that. The more time baby gets to grow inside the better but 3 weeks early is still okay! Have they already diagnosed baby Iugr or just suspecting? 2 lbs is kind of around the size of a 28weeker anything 10% and above is still considered “normal”

Honestly, my husband! I would not be able to do it without all the support and help he gives me with the kids when I’m working and not working! I think any momma who has a career needs support in their life! It can be hard

I think that the pants are the perfect length on you. Me personally, I am 5’5, and I still think I’m gonna order petite. I’ve had regular scrub pants before by Wonder Wink, and they would always drag on the ground and get tattered and dirty.

At 17 weeks my son was measuring a week behind, at 20 still a week behind. Now at 25 weeks he’s measuring 2 weeks behind, I’m seeing a high risk specialist in a few days 😢 I was a small baby, 4 pounds. I’m hoping he’s ok & just tiny…I also just became a single mother, father quit his job & left the state 😞

I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope you hear good news at your appointment. Some babies are just small and completely healthy! He still has time to grow 🫶🏼 they told me to increase my protein intake. Idk if it actually helped but at one appointment she did grow a decent amount but they still thought she’d be small. She’s 13 months now. She’s short but she’s a girl and I’m short 😂 but she is a sweet chunky healthy baby now

@@JessicaOceanLover I was the same! Don’t let the fear or unknown rob you of your pregnancy though. Enjoy every day he’s inside 🤍 every day he’s inside and growing counts so much! I reached out to a lot of moms who went through the same thing and while some did have to have a nicu stay there were some who didn’t have any nicu time. Try to stay positive and enjoy all the extra heart beats you get to listen to 🥰

No the fabric wasn’t stretchy in my option. The waist band yes, I had no problem getting them on. But other than that I would not call the fabric stretchy. This would be ideal when it comes to scrubs though since you don’t want them shrinking or wearing down with the constant washing.

I am starting my NICU residency on Monday as a new grad. I also have 3 kids, one being 4 months old and I’m breastfeeding also. Kind of crazy how similar our situations are.. not exactly, but pretty darn close. I’m glad I found your channel. Any words of advice? Are you managing work life balance well with taking care of the kids and having a baby and breastfeeding while being a new grad trying to learn in the NICU? How do you find time to pump at work? Also any tips on what to look up to prepare for work, like things that would be helpful to know? What level NICU are you on? Sorry, lol I have so many questions because our situations are so similar I feel like I won’t find anyone else who can answer my questions like you can lol

Yay congrats to you!!!!! That is so awesome to be able to get through nursing school with babies and still go for your passion! The first few weeks of the residency were very overwhelming I won’t lie. It was a lot of information and a lot of days in a row to be away from home. Those days I would pump on break and on my lunch, on the way to and from work. I got a portable pump that went in my bra so that was very helpful. Now that I work 3 days a week life is extremely manageable so trust me it gets better 🤍 I did not pump for long because I had a stash collected but I would nurse when I was home. I would suggest continuing to pump every 3 hrs to maintain your supply. You have the right to take time to pump so absolutely take it! Easier said than done I’m sure but you have to prioritize yourself and your baby as well. But remember to do what works for you. If it becomes too much then do what makes you happy and sane! I am at a level 4 nicu which is the highest acuity. I’d suggest memorizing your lab values or at least being somewhat familiar with them. Honestly you learn everything else as you go. Don’t be afraid to ask any and every question! Good luck!!
