That was a great street level no b.s. care about people and planning speech. Now i dont compare that with Ronald Reagan's 1964 Speech for the RNC but ..but...Charlie has his finger on the pulse, his ears to the people and his eyes on the future. That was good. So how did the 10 year plan pan out?!?

Doing business with other countries is extremely important, but why are we doing business with China. The Communist Party in China treats their citizens very poorly and the Chinese Government is very corrupt and works with the Communist Party and is their puppet. We need to cut ties with China and work with other countries, like, Italy, UK, Australia, Poland, Germany and France.

Munchkin mayor Mike Duggan is just a millionaire and billionaire mayor. The only area of Detroit that's getting attention is the downtown area. The area owned by members of the RICH FIG families. Ford, Illitch, and Gilbert. Look at the surrounding neighborhoods all around Detroit. Pitiful abandoned, dilapidated, and empty land. If Detroit is so great, why does the Wizard of Oz mayor Mike Duggan have 24/7 police protection inside AND outside his Detroit taxpayer paid riverfront mansion? Why? CRIME CRIME CRIME. There's even a police officer who tucks in the mayor into his bed, and reads Mike a bedtime story. There's even Detroit police floating in the Detroit River on the river side of the mayor's mansion to keep the Canadian pirates from landing in the mayor's backyard.

What about the management salaries effect on the profit margin? What about the bone us money effect on the bottom line? What about the dividends effect on the bottom line? How do all thoughs fit into the price of the new car compared to the UAW salaries effect on the cost?

Corporate could have very easily just agreed and there wouldn't be a strike, theres no excuse, playing some moral card of "oh they're holding us hostage" is ridiculous, its like blaming someone for escaping a bank robbery and not staying with you. The fact is the uaw has been held hostage for far too long, and you weren't saying crap when it was the tradesmen... pay your people, you can afford it and your profits show they deserve it, no excuse

I wish people would stop saying that the pension plan drove the big 3 into bankruptcy in 2007. The collapsing economy caused by the housing crisis crashed the economy. Prior to this, against the wishes of the union, the companies borrowed money from the surplus in the pension funds with the blessings of the government, who guaranteed the funds to be replaced if something went wrong. Well something went wrong. Ongoing contributions to the pension fund are negotiated as part of wages. When the economy crashed the companies were not able to replenish the pension monies they borrowed. During good times there is no affordability issue for the funding of pensions. The real issue is to leave the funding alone. The auto companies are arguing that increasing wages would make them less competitive. This of course completely ignores the 250 billion they have made in 10 years. They would not have made that kind of profit if they were not competitive. The issue is not entirely wages, but about sharing the 250 billion. That is what is being missed in these discussions, imho.

All you guys are worried about are the tax dollars you are gonna lose. Shameful...no wonder Detroit has become so bad...not to mention MI in general.

You are avoiding answering the question. Here is a few things a CEO has on their plate. The CEO manages thousands of workers and suppliers, manages a broken health coverage system, is responsible for SEC, FTC and global legislation that effects every aspect of car manufacturing. The CEO is actively working on keeping up with Tesla and other Non union shops that pay their workers more then the UAW. The CEO is also working on ways to stop the EV market from taking more market share from them and is also concerned with congress eventually screwing Americans and allowing low cost Chinese cars into the US with zero tariffs. Then the CEO is responsible for real estate transactions, currency conversion earning reporting and last but not least find a successor. You want to gain knowledge of what is on a CEOs plate read Winning by Jack Welsh. Again please take me why someone who puts the same seatbelt on the same car, working in the same 10 feet box for 20 years deserves more then 15 an hour. If the big three didn’t have to deal with unions they would filled this positions and salaries would have gone up.

- CEO pay...up 3000% - Stock buybacks (now that they're legal, and *directly* connected to executive bonus payouts)...$5 BILLION -Worker pay...up 15% Sounds like there's well more than enough to go around at the top.

Workers need to give back a dollar every year until the pay ratio with the real humans is 1000:1. Workers are dogs and they need to be kicked by the executives so that the shareholders can make money while sleeping

@@Niquefucious There are a lot of Tesla lineworkers who have become millionaires through Tesla stock options. Every year, Tesla gets around 3 million applications for jobs. Right now Tesla is looking for an additional 40,000 people in Austin. So far, nearly 220,000 applications have been received. I absolutely agree that GM, Ford and Stellantis workers are not being treated fairly, but that has nothing to do with Tesla. If Tesla was such a bad employer, why do millions (yes, millions) apply for jobs there?

The real issue is not so much about what the rank and file are getting paid, but what the fat-cat executives pay themselves. Barra and many others in senior management are paying themselves tens of millions - and are driving their companies into the dirt. The workforce (the lifeblood of the company) are prohibited from participating in key decisions, but are suffering the conequences of appalling management, bad leadership and ineptitude that borders on gross negligence.
