I think that was 4.7. I’ve sailed it with 4.0 a couple times as well. it’s a good high wind board. I recently got the Maui Project 8’6”but haven’t had a chance to sail it yet.

Cool, I was wondering if the 96 has cut outs in the back my 106 has cut outs. I also have an 82 L but it does not have cut out. Do you know the year of these boards I think my 82 L is a 2004 and my one 06 L is a 2005 with the cut outs.

@ yes the 96 has cut outs mine are 2007 so actually the 2nd gen, yours is the 2006 first gen. Both are fast boards regularly over 30knts, I haven’t had ideal conditions for the 96 I suspect it can go much faster!

How is it like freeriding with a freestyle board? is it better than a freeride board? I only have freeride and freerace boards and never had the chance to try a freestyle board in a freeride session.
@jimikrikit
@jimikrikit 2 ай бұрын
I suppose it is similar. Freestyle boards are designed to accellerate quickly and get up to speed for maneuvers, so they are easy to ride. This model has the twin footstrap option in the back. I believe it was the last year (2011) that the skate had this option. Most freestyle have only the center option which doesn't allow for an outside footstrap stance . At 110 liters I use this as my big board with a 7.3 Hot sails camless speed demon and a 14.5 inch weed blade fin. It can be pretty fast.

That is a 110 liter Fanatic Skate from 2011. I believe it was the last year they had twin footstrap positons in the back. With the double rear straps you can sail it like a slalom board. It's pretty quick.👍👍

Okay! I thought it was a KS3 Spider, but that would not have that batten below the window. I recently bought an as new Naish 8‘4“ classic from 1999 for 50 €. Powered up with a North Sails 3Di it‘s still all the fun you can have in windsurfing.

It's a fun board! I paid $60 for it! It was designed for the old supercross racing where you jumped obstacles, but had to be fast. 94 liters 257 long, The sail is a 2000 Hot Sails Spider Slide. As light as any modern sail. 👍👍

What's the volume on that F2 board Jim compared to your Seatrend 260? Did you take the 260 out in this storm at all?
@jimikrikit
@jimikrikit 3 ай бұрын
It's about 81 liters. The Seatrend 260 is 86 I believe and too fast. I needed something that I could try and control. I have an 82 liter JP super-x that I sailed the day before, but it also is super fast and gets hard to control. The Maui project has a thin tail and a raised pad in the middle by the fin that keeps it controlable to a point. I needed a 3.2 and a multi-fin setup. ha ha
@Drumbuoy545
@Drumbuoy545 3 ай бұрын
@@jimikrikit Yeah, good deal on the 4.0 though... can't beat that price especially if it's never been wet! Smallest sail I have is a 3.7 but sounds like I still would have been a bit overpowered out there with that on the 260 and probably bouncing all over the place. Definitely helps to have the right gear in that kind of wind even on flat water. 🤙

This Seatrend is the last year Randy French designed them in 1998. I have this 260 (85 liter) and the larger 269 (92 liter). They are great boards! Very quick and still fairly loose. I had both back then, and was able to track down these two in the last couple years. Very hard to find. 😊
