I’m curious how was your experience as a non alcoholic drinker? I also don’t drink but every Camino video I watch, there is wine offered with every meal. Was it hard to say no constantly?
@summitwithsophie2 күн бұрын
Not hard for me at all! I know for certain I don't want to drink alcohol so I'm not tempted. Mostly with meals you can just ask for a soft drink instead and that's fine 😊 The Camino was much harder in this sense for Nils, who is a vegetarian. The Spanish don't understand that vegetarians don't normally eat fish so most of the "veggie" options had fish in them 🙃

Hi Sophie, loved the vlog. We hit the Meseta end of May so everyday was setting off 6am to get to the next destination before 1pm due to it being 30 degrees. Loved the Meseta things like swimming in the river at Carrion. The view on top of the hill was amazing. Walked a 40km day just after Sahagun you turned left but you could have gone right and i walked the whole day through fields to Religeous and saw no one lol fdboulous day.

Hi Steve! Thank you for taking the time to watch and share your experience :) we had 30 degree weather for a couple of days further on (in the next vlog!) and I'd really have struggled if it was like that every day 😅 but the river does sound very nice, there's different pros and cons at different times!

Hey! I’m also planning to walk the camino March-April 2025. How is with the accommodation at this time. Are a lot of places closed? And I would love to see a video what to pack this time of the year because not a lot of people at least on youtube go at this time. Thank you for your answer☺️☀️ All the best, Sara
@summitwithsophie4 ай бұрын
@@sara_violinist Hi Sara! Thanks for watching. I would say accommodation wise it's a great time to go because things are not fully booked and it's very easy to find places to stay! Some things were closed, especially when I started in March, but I would say even at the beginning more things were open than closed so it was never a problem. Just a bit disappointing when we had a freak 32C weather day and all the swimming pools were closed because it was too early in the season 🤣🤣 couple of quick packing tips - there were one or two nights where it got a bit cold and I was glad I had a proper sleeping bag rather than just a liner, so I do recommend bringing one. On the coldest days I wore a long sleeved top, a thin sports jacket, a thin down jacket and a waterproof shell. Definitely had one or two days where all 4 layers were needed but certainly not every day! Hopefully I'll get round to a full packing video soon 😊

Did you have to arrange where you would stay “hostel’s” with a company or did you kind of winged it?
@summitwithsophie4 ай бұрын
Hi! Definitely would not recommend using an organised company for the Camino, it's a complete waste of money! In my case walking in March we could just walk in the front door of hostels and ask for a bed. If you go in the summer it would be busier so you might need to book in advance online, but you can do it 1-2 days at a time as you go 😊 no need to book the whole thing at the beginning!!
