I’m Cuban /italian. My new found friend for a year is Lebanese and she speaks perfect English and of course Arabic. So we’re trying to learn each other’s 2nd language. I just sent her voice chats on WhatsApp saying the 1st phrase that was taught. I was so proud of my self. I’m sure I’ll be dreaming of marhaban Ana or Ismi Vicky, surirtu biliqa, iki

Is the 'alif' in Ana really an alif? Is it not a hamza as a hamza needs a vehicle to ride on at the beginning of a word

Is "ahlan" also "hello"? Which is more standard Arabic? Ahlan or Marhaban? I also heard some say "Marhaba" without the "n", is that proper too? Would appreciate!
