The software is free and open source, there are many different copies, and many different flavors and versions. Along with tens of thousands of other people, you're free to save a copy of the software for yourself as well. Once something is on the internet, it's forever. You can't destroy every copy of anything.

Bitcoin fees are not based on the amount you send. The network doesn't care if you send 0.001 Bitcoin or 50 Bitcoin, it's the same amount of data, so it's the same fee.

Yes, for the video I just sent one dollar, but usually you will have to pay a larger amount for the fee to send the transaction. The fee is the same no matter how much you send, $1 or $100,000 would have the same fee, because its just moving around data, it doesn't care how "much" that is worth in USD. But yes to send some bitcoin, you send it to the public bitcoin address of the wallet you want to receive the bitcoin. You can scan a QR code for that or just paste in the address. You are being scammed. Never import your wallet into another service, that gives them full access to your wallet and funds. Again, It Is A Scam. If you do that, you will lose your funds. Phantom has a real wallet, but "customer service" would never know what your hold in yours since its "decentralized". Someone is trying to fool you (its a very common scam).

@@bitcoinlearning365 Thanks for your reply. Well, my first answer would be: take a look at the Bisq forum on the matrix platform... Like most users, I only go there every now and then, so of course it's impossible to follow everything that's said, but complaints about being targeted by scammers is very frequent and the Bisq staff don't seem too bothered about it. Their attitude is like "There isn't much we can do about it". I got to talk to a couple of users over the last few days who were victims or near victims of such incidents and basically, one of them pretty much had to throw a bit of a tantrum for his issue to be addressed and the staff to do something about such threat, like to put a banner over the forum that says "The Bisq team will never DM you, ignore such messages, they're scammers". Because Bisq doesn't always run very smoothly, with slow resyncs, difficulties with the DAO state and so on, often users ask for help in the support forum. Then some scammer will show up, pretending to be a member of the Bisq team (imitating their profiles) to try to syphon some of the users' funds through different methods. I really like the idea of Bisq, decentralized and anonymous, I feel that it very much follows the spirit of Bitcoin. But that has to be addressed. How could I recommend it to someone new to Bitcoin?

Binance and coinbase are both exchanges that also have multi-coin wallets. Bitcoin core is a full bitcoin node + wallet. Its hard to know what you are asking as they are very different, but self custody is always more secure when done right.

Yes, lightning is not location dependent. Lightning will work with any other lightning wallet, and many wallets allow you to pay a normal bitcoin address via a lightning wallet if need via "submarine swaps". I love Electrum for my main bitcoin storage, but Aqua wallet is my go-to for spending / lightning transactions.

Additionally you can use boltz to swap between lightning and main chain Bitcoin if needed. But slowly more and more merchants are accepting lightning, even in El Salvador. boltz.exchange/

@@pennteller2552 No. I'm just afraid that my data could be corrupted because Umbrel doesn't allow me to protect it with disk redundancy and encryption security. Umbrel offers neither. But if you don't use Umbrel to manage your Bitcoin, then you can use the many apps in their store and protect yourself with regular backups. A lightning node cannot be protected with disk backups.

Interesting, I'm running umbrel on top of Linux as well.. Update has been pending release for a while now. We'll see how this plays out, I was thinking of testing Start9 next anyway.

​ @pennteller2552 Bitcoin, not crypto. And no, I don't think you're at any extra risk for losing any Bitcoin with the update, but it's always good to be extra careful. In my opinion multisig is great for peace of mind, but be confident in learning how it works before attempting, the last thing you want to do is lock yourself out from accessing your own Bitcoin.

Yes both apps are open source and highly trusted by the community. Cold storage will always be more secure then a hot wallet. If your keys are ever exposed to the internet there is some risk, for large amounts I would recommend multisig: electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/multisig.html But be careful you don't make your setup overly complex and lock yourself out from accessing your own coins. Yes that is correct, you can generate a seed offline. IMO the best wallet to do that is Electrum. They have great documentation as well: electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.html Sparrow is another great wallet for that.
