"tannoura" is not Egyptian Arabic, it's one of "One of the Levantine dialects" 😅

@ yeah, that’s what I thought. I thought it was Lebanese but there’s an Egyptian folk dance called the tannoura, so says Google, so I wasn’t sure. Lol.

Can you say el akl kan helwa?
@egyptianarabicwithmahmoud34374 күн бұрын
Exactly! The word "el akl" (الأكل) is masculine in Arabic, which is why we say: "El akl kan 7elw." The verb "kan" (كان) agrees with the masculine noun. "7elw" (حلو) is also in the masculine form because it describes "el akl." "El akla kanet 7elwa." الأكل كان حلو See the difference? 😊

When I am the store and there is a person in my way that I want to pass , can I say “لو سمحت " in order to express I want to get pass.
@egyptianarabicwithmahmoud34374 күн бұрын
Absolutely! If you're in a situation where there's a line (or queue) and someone tries to skip it, you can use the phrase "الدور لو سمحت" to politely remind them that there’s a queue. Here’s how you can explain it: "الدور" literally means "the turn," and it’s commonly used in Arabic to refer to a line or queue. Saying "الدور لو سمحت" is like saying, “Please wait for your turn,” or “Excuse me, there’s a queue.” It’s a polite way to remind people that skipping the line isn’t okay. 😊

What do you do when youre half Egyptian and understand all these phrases and speak in the most Broken Egyptian arabic ever snd want to make it fluent... Father is Egyptian and he only taught me curse words. I learned mostly from going to Misr 6 times and having a former relationship w an egyptian that lasted 3.5 yrs. I want to be able to speak Egyptian Arabic FLUENTLY. No, i cannot read or write.
@egyptianarabicwithmahmoud343710 күн бұрын
Hi, Thank you for sharing your story-it’s actually quite common for people with mixed backgrounds to struggle with fluency in their heritage language. From what you’ve mentioned, the main challenge seems to be that you haven’t had consistent opportunities to practice speaking Egyptian Arabic. The good news is that this can be improved with regular speaking practice! One way to fast-track your progress is through one-to-one online classes where you can get personalized attention and focus on real conversational skills. Here’s my link on Preply where you can book a session with me: preply.com/en/tutor/39825 I’d love to help you achieve your goal of speaking Egyptian Arabic fluently. Let me know if you have any questions! Looking forward to hearing from you, Muhammad

Another great video, guys! Please Mahmnood, OFTEN yani eh fil lahga el masriya? For instance, "I often visit Greece" could be translated as "ana bazoor el Yonan ...." Shukran gazilan
@egyptianarabicwithmahmoud343711 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 In Egyptian Arabic, 'often' is usually translated as 'كتير' (keteer) or 'على طول' ('ala tool') depending on the context. For example: 'I often visit Greece' can be said as: 'Ana bazoor el Yonan كتير (keteer).' Hope this helps! Shukran gazilan! 🙏
