Excellent interview, I love the guitar but can't play a lick. Really enjoyed this interview. I didn't understand half the stuff you two talked about, but the stories that were told were still enjoyable. Thanks for this video with one of the best guitarists alive.

I love the casual drop of AmazingSlowDowner here. I can't tell you how many solos I've transcribed thanks to that thing - especially instruments that aren't guitar like horns, where you ear just doesn't latch on as well. It's invaluable and with enough patience, it's the best ear training you can get. Can't find tabs? Great. Time to hunker down and get that ear going. I swear, once you have a certain amount of technique down, it's your ear that will hold you back if you haven't put the time into transcribing stuff you wanna know.

Man. That has to be one of the best interviews I can remember - thank you very much for this! You barely had to prompt Pete and he laid everything out you'd ever want him to. How he learned how to play, the early days of the DY band, his approach and personality in terms of how that affects his production approach. I never figured he'd touch the end of his time with Dwight and here we are - he just candidly offers up extremely mature and reflective insight.

Buddy Guy had 2 45rpm (possibly on 78 as well) releases on Artistic, a Cobra label in 1958. The Folk Festivals in Britain were in the early 1960s. What about Luther Allison, Louis Myers, Lonnie Mack (RIPs) or Duke Robillard, Jimmy Thackerey, Tom Principato, or Eric Clapton?

I prefer to set up a patch for all the songs. But I may have an alternate patch for any special effects a song cover may require. However, once a song starts, I don't alter or even turn on or off any settings, but simply vary styles of play to support the performance. That allows me to concentrate on supporting the vocals and blend with the other instruments.

Still on this week long journey so far of Ask Zac afternoon veiwing binges. I've watched this one between 12 and 15 times now..? And each time time I pick up something new, funny or inspirational. This time I got a chuckle when Kirk mentioned Pine Bluff, Arkansas being out in the country. We lived there for a short time in the mid 70s and it was country alright, and it was poor. I hadn't noticed until the first day of 2nd grade, but the kids I ran with went barefoot all summer because they had torn up or grew out of last years pair. LOL.

Does anyone know the settings for this videos opening riff? The guitar used along with the Amp & slide used glass or brass. I just love that opening tone/sound.

The instruction book that he shows at 2:40, I actually found one on eBay and ordered it. It’s from 1964 so it certainly didn’t arrive in pristine condition but it’s a very informative book. Modern publishers could take a lesson from this.

I am so glad that I stumbled on to this interview. I met Vince once at a Golf Course where I was asked to bring my old Harley to ride Bill Boner Nashville's Mayor into on filmed on tape for some kind of a fund raiser event. Vince was there with some other artist and he was cutting up having a good time. Made a great impression on me about his personality. Great interview.

2nd time watchin this.. vince was always one of those musicians who was born to be what he is. like srv, evh, setzer. fate brought the guitar to them, put them on a journey that we all get to enjoy.. job well done Mr.Gill. ps: i hope hes ok with "one of my fifty niiiiness" going down now, in lore, as the Thurston Burst!.. what to call the other one, hmm ginger? or maryanne? 😅

I heard the Linda guitar solo on the radio in the 1980s when I was a kid and I remember thinking “that guitar sings like he does and it cries too. “ I didn’t pick up a guitar for another ten years, but Steve is a guitar hero in my house.

theres lots of positive results introducing wax for sealing purposes. for me, it also muffles the life out of a humbucker, the covered ones anyway. but jasons right, live, loud & cookin wih a few more bandmates?.. usually payin too much attention makin sure they're no louder than you to notice potting nuances.😗

It seems that Gilmour had the most influence on his style. My two favorite guitarists along with EVH and Stevie Ray. Jon Thatcher is my favorite bassist though along with Martin Smith on vocals. Delirious? has been my favorite band since '97 and I have seen many rock bands live. Delirious? is the only band I would pay to see now and I would take my whole family.
