Chill out bro you would be the first to flee the combat zone in modern combat. You wannabe though guy. I swear I hate comments like this. So u think all men now are weaklings just because they are not in the trenches in some global conflict right now? No full scale war with other nations? U have some major mental issues if you think only war creates great men. Reflect on that

Music and art evokes emotions surrounding the profound sacrifice of the USMC. When said "No such thing as an Ex-Marine" we can understand why...

This was the series that convinced me to be a marine. From early childhood I knew I was going to the military, but once I saw this show and read sledges book at 11 years old I just knew I was going to be a marine after.

I'm from India watching this series in 2024, amazed by the wonder created by Hans Zimmer, who is excellent in creating something historic and proud , Salute to the heroes who lost their lives in WW2.

What a great choice to have exactly this type of charcoal drawings to be represented in WW2 TV show, as they can be found everywhere during the period, in concentration camps and homes near the front, from people in various armies etc. They were very popular ar the time

quote from someone: The charcoal on the paper is not easily faded by time, symbolizing eternity. Their heroic act will never be forgotten The pencil symbolizes the souls of soldiers. In the midst of war, all soldiers' souls are shattered like charcoal pencils. At the end of the opening song, that charcoal pencil drifting through the fragments represents a metaphor for those soldiers whose souls have been wounded, yearning to mend their spirits.

I know this series was about the Pacific Theatre. But knowing what war is and that was WW2, this song hits hard when you realise young men are dying on the frontline in Ukraine. Fighting for the same values and freedom that were fought for during WW2. War in Europe all over again in not even 100 years.

I feel like the imagery of the charcoal splintering and being worn away to make the picture doesn't get enough appreciation. Just like the marines it is rendering, they are being worn down to the nub, losing parts or even all of themselves, and they're still just pieces in a much larger picture. Absolutely inspired.

I didn't realize this was a Tom Hanks, Spielberg collaboration...that explains the exquisite music and talent in both miniseries. BOB music is a still much better. This is still fabulous.

I lost my father on August 08, 2024. A mere boy in his late teens he boarded the USS Massachusetts in the Pacific in 1944. I learned he handled the powder bags that were used in the middle 16" gun of the upper forward turret. The USS Massachusetts was credited with firing in anger the first 16in projectiles of WWII and the last in the Pacific. Dad I miss you, he passed at the age of 98. Thanks to the great generation that gave so much to this country. That generation contributed some of the proudest moments this country has endured. This country has fallen so far from its greatness I have serious doubts of our returning to a position of past glory. God please forgive us of our gross national sins let there be true repentance and restore us once again. In the mercy of our God I plead.
