What type of fabric are you using. Something knit?
@ShoopyMcMeerah3 ай бұрын
Gaberdine in this case. Lots of other options depending on what you want the end results to look like.

Thank you very much. Appreciate it. I usually buy by feel so I didn't pay attention to the name of the fabric. Or sometimes given fabric. I live 100 miles plus to the nearest fabric store so have to order online. Askwali=Thank you ♥️

You use a cotton thread for your warp strings. My concern is finding one strong enough to last through the years. Can you give us your choice? I've built my own looms based on yours here. Each project sees changes of the loom, all to make things easier. Have done several projects now on many iterations of that loom. Thanks for the eye opener. ✌️
@ShoopyMcMeerah Жыл бұрын
Howdy! I typically use a cotton crochet thread but it depends on the project. Some of my projects call for a fine yarn. I have seen on old pieces that the cotton can deteriorate over time so storage conditions are important. I have seen others use everything from linen cordage to kite string and even dental floss.
@scott5456 Жыл бұрын
Works great. I would advise leaving the ends longer prior to knotting. The longer strings are easier to manipulate.

First time seeing your videos. I’m very new to beading and am learning on a small loom until I get better at the process. Can your two needle working be done on a smaller loom? I find watching you do 2 needles to appear to be easier than a single needle. Thank you for sharing your videos; I have saved all of the videos in this series.

Thanks so much for making this video! I am working an an important piece right now and would like to know where you got your open loom from? Also would raffia yarn work with open loom or do I have to use cotton material?
@ShoopyMcMeerah4 жыл бұрын
I built the loom myself and I suspect you could use that yarn if you like. It depends on your project and what you have in mind. I have never used that material and likely never will given the work I do but I have used yarn before. The main thing is the size of beads you are using and if your material will stretch. Good luck!

Hey I was wondering after looking at a shawl I was given, how go ya keep the fringe from sliding out and loosing up the knot?
@ShoopyMcMeerah4 жыл бұрын
I have never had that issue with these overhand knots. Maybe it would be a problem if it was a larks head knot or something but I was taught to use overhand knots because they held and they are fast.

You need to demonstrate by actually sewing it and not pointing with your finger. Can't tell which bead or row you are pointing at. An actual demonstration would be better. A picture is worth a thousand words.

FOR ANY OF YOU THAT ARE INTERESTED IN INSTALLING SPOTS CORRECTLY YOU SHOULD GO TO ANY LEATHERCRAFT STORE AND PURCHASE WHAT THEY CALL A SPOT SETTER . IT'S A LITTLE $9 TOOL THAT HOLDS THE SPOT WHILE YOU TAP IT IN WITH A MALLET. WHEN YOU FOLD THE PRONGS ON THE BACK DON'T PLACE THE DOT ON A PIECE OF WOOD . PLACE IT ON A PIECE OF SCRAP LEATHER SO YOU DON'T DENT OR SCRATCH THE DOT. YOU CAN BEND THE PRONGS OVER WITH A SCREWDRIVER AND AT THE SAME TIME BURY THE TIP OF THE PRONG IN THE LEATHER. SORRY SHOOPY , BUT YOU DON'T ENOUGH ABOUT LEATHER WORK TO BE DOING A TUTORIAL.

I saw the beadwork you showed in the beginning video. It was split in more than one piece. Do you or anybody reading have a video on how to split loom work like that??
@ShoopyMcMeerah4 жыл бұрын
I'll see if I can make a video but it will take some time since I don't have any loom projects set up right now. In a nutshell all you need to do is drop a bead where the split is and treat the resulting gap like an outside edge. I know it is easier to see than read but hopefully that might help a little.
