Boat not fast enough and trying to stand up too early. Get outside the wash on your bum and wait for the right speed....and the water is smoother out there.

A sympathetic and experienced driver is useful,to cut out a lot of the bouncing around. Personally for deep water starts I would use a nose clamp as it upsets my sinuses for several days.

I'm now 65 yo, and began bare footing at 18. My first barefoot wet suit was a scuba diver's farmer John that I took the scissors to. Our boat was 14 feet long and had a 70 Merc. I've competed and stuck with the sport all of my adult life except where I missed a decade in my late forties/early 50's when I began to have hip problems. I now have 2 perfectly functioning titanium hip joints, and have had a very careful and cautious return to the sport that I love. I'm 65, have artificial hips, and an extra 20 pounds, but I adore the sport and the camaraderie with other footers around the world. Yes, I spend 90% of my barefoot runs on the boom, and I'm delighted to be able to ride comfortably knowing that wicked barefoot falls are a thing of the past for me. I don't like your comment.

I am 65 years old started bare footen for me behind a 1979 nautique bought new and only knew how to long line barefoot step out of the slalom ski and hope for the best. Lol ooh how the girls loved it . Back then we had to make our own equipment as you couldn't buy it. Boogie Norris Overton's was the 1st one to get into it started getting the right equipment. Watch out for the dead cat fish on top of the water lol. Without the right equipment that's a bad water enema deepwater start. Lol fun fun fun .

Your weight divided by 10 add 20. So 200lbs 40mph. There are slight variables here big feet you can go a bit slower little feet maybe need a touch more. Oh and don't do what Dylan did. Never rush it let the boat get up to speed before trying to stand. I tell all I teach just ride on your butt until you can see me in the boat and then set your feet in the water. Good luck happy footing.

@@barefootbob1269 do you think I will need a special barefoot neopren wetsuit?
@barefootbob12693 жыл бұрын
@@EnergyMonsterCrack The quick answer is yes. When I started back in 1971 I learned old school method of dropping a ski so I learned without one. That said not having one limits what you can do and how far you can progress. They definitely add a bit of comfort and safety. For a long time a friend of mine wore a vest under a regular wetsuit but it was tough because he had to buy a suit way to big for him so that a vest would fit under really not a great option. If you look around the the internet you can usually find some for under $300.

I find it easier to 'shore start' hopping from one foot, about 4' of slack at 'hit it'. 2nd easiest, off a dock, ...hardest in deep water with both feet in. Leaving 1 out (unless double boot) is best and don't rush to put the 'balance foot' in too quick.
