Good lesson. It's necessary for the kids to learn how to garden and survive. Growing your own food is pivotal because you learn skills,maintain good health, and you're able to feed your family when you grow your own food. Great life lesson.

The reason why I cut the top is because they very tall but if they short you don't have to cut them you can just protect the plant

It's all depends on how tall you want the tree grow. . The lowest I ever cut a fruit 4ft tall.
