Listen to what she says starting at 1:03:19 She's trying to blame the nazis and orthodox jews for being so racist and obsessed regarding racial purity, because she's never wanted to be jewish and if she can somehow not be purely jewish, she's therefore less jewish and can find justification for both leaving a racist and oppressive community while at the same time, create a new identity (German) since she's not purely jewish anyway. There's no way, that at such a young age, she would have ever suspected that she wasn't purely jewish, since she had no evidence to base it on. Rather, she's always wished she weren't purely jewish.

How many people contine to fall for this? This interview is a fictional performance used by Feldman in order to support the artificial identity of herself that she's created. Her book, her image, her identity, her past, are all a work of FICTION. "Deborah Feldman" herself, is a fantasy idenity that she herself created, as a result of her own inferiority complex. Her Jewish community was NOT as "repressive" as she claims. Her leaving her community had nothing to do with it's "oppresiveness" any way and didn't require courage as much as it required an obsession that she has with Germans and with her own self-worth. She believes that Jews, culturally and racially, are inferior and that Germans are superior. She actually believes Nazi propaganda. Don't believe me? Here are her actual words from her actual mouth: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKfbq3yOiKaDr9k start at 8:24 My point is, she's created a false story to justify her "obsession with Germans" and overcoming her inferiority complex towards them by "becoming' one of them, and so many have fallen for it.

@@karlheven8328 Deborah Feldman definately is. That's my point. Recognizing and identifying this in her doesn't make me so. I'm just really good at understanding human behavior. As a student of history, I believe I understand the historical relationship between Germans and Jews, which includes this same phenomenon amoung Jews as a whole. Jews have always had both an inferiority and superority complex; superior among themselves, but inferior out in the rest of the world and how they think the world views them. In order to overcome this inferiority (to have have it align with their superioity complex), they've sought to get validation from others, namely from the people they most highly regard. This has been so for at least a couple hundred years. Why do you think that Jews spoke Yiddish, even those who (nor whose ancestors) ever lived in Germany? Which is why so many of them especially felt betrayed by the German's leading role in the holocaust. But, hisorically, Germans, for the most part, didn't want Jews as part of Germany. And, Jews believed that they would never be allowed as part of the "in group" as long as they were always seen as outsiders. So, many Jews sought to minimize German's sense of ethnic or national identity (usually, politically, mass immigration, etc.). As a result, many Germans (and other nations and peoples) have seen Jews as a threat. There are, of course, other reasons for the holocaust as well, but this is definately one of the reasons. I'll even add the observation that I believe Germans are also suffering from an inferioty complex as a result, of not just losing the war, but manipulation by people after power. After the war, leftist socialists have tried to brainwash Germans into believing that even to BE German was undesirable and for you to be embarrassed to be so. Many will often claim they're European, rather than German. As a result, many Germans are being manipulated because of their complex, into being willing, for example, to give up their national soveriegnity for a European one. Frankly, Germans have been manipulated for generations, often by being manipulated to going to one extreme or the other (you're either superior or inferior). Both neighboring nations, as well as native socialists (on the left or right), as as result of the unification of the german speaking peoples in 1871, made Germany potentially very powerful. So, neighboring nations have tried to break you up and native manipulators have tried to take advantage by trying to make you feel superior or inferior, in order to get you guys to do what they want, either to go to war, or to suborndinate your national identiy to a European order, with you guys not having the power, but footing the bill. Either way, Germans are manipulated, all for power.
