We moved to Granada a year and a half ago and love it. Everything you say about the quality of life here is true. We would never go back to the US. We're not "America haters" we just prefer the way of life here.

Spain is cool, also 50% of youth is jobless and moving to other european countries. Have you encountered any taxi driver yet that comments NO, No Negro when you want to get in the cab?

In Switzerland in most fields we are not constantly scared of loosing our jobs and our healthcare system is not as of now ruining peoples lives financially and physically but we lack this beautiful connection and sense of community that Spain has.

As a young woman from Spain I'm glad you feel good here, but I have to say that not everything is so easy here. For example, if you don't live in a main city like Madrid, Bcn or Valencia it's not that easy to find a job, even if you're prepared for it. It's hard here to run your own business as taxed are really elevated. Just so everyone knows. But it's true that it's part of our culture to connect, have a rich social life and create community

The main difference between the US and Europe is that the American government (Representing the interests of the wealthy corporations) has abandoned the hardworking, decent and serious American citizens (One of the worst standards of living of the industrialized world) and in Europe you still can see where the tax payers money goes: Great health care, low cost education, security, great high speed trains and infrastructure, social services, nursing homes etc....A guy from Asturias in California.

I’m not sure that your comparison between Belgium and Wyoming makes the point you’d hoped. One is a country with a population of 11.7M, while Wyoming is a state (not a country) with a population of 600,000. It reminds me of when you ask someone online where they’re are from those in the US usually give the state, while those outside the USA say the country.

Not bragging but merely stating for context: i kmow every state, almost every capital. I know of and can recognize at least 100 American politicians active today and more than 100 more from history. I can name and find accurately over 100 countries and most of their capitals. I can come very close to the balance. I have friends all over the world and even more friends FROM all over the world. I am CANADIAN. My American friends don't know much of anything about Canada or Mexico and virtually nothing of Europe. They are collectively the most ignorant people in the world.

I like you. Intelligent, tolerant, kind. I also like many millions of Americans despite their (usually) staggering ignorance and obnoxious nationalism. But I do not like Trump or the Maggots. That's 75m I do not like. Never will. And, soon, the Maggots will outnumber the good ones. Why? Because the good ones and the immigrants will leave. Personally, I will never set foot in that money worshipping, evil and sick society ever again.

The so called "american dream" is a nightmare where the rich people enslave the poor one. Not a country just a business. That's why you see flags everywhere to oblige the people to believe in a so called unified independant country. Not the case. And by far.

I agree with most of your points, but US is not bigger than Europe. Europe is about 100.000 km2 larger than US including Alaska. Remember part of Russia is in Europe. EU is smaller than US, but not that much. Greenland is part of EU despite not being part or Europe.

One more comment - I am 77 yrs old and live in Massachusetts which -in theory - has excellent medical care. But the medical practice I am using has been purchased by Amazon. Yes, that Amazon. Services have been cut and the whole atmosphere and access to medical care has dropped like a rock. We need help.

I’ve been to Spain briefly but some years ago I lived in Ivory Coast W Africa for 9 months. I also experienced culture shock when I returned. One of those was the rushed lunches and running back to work after 15 minutes spent eating. It seemed so uncivilized! I had gotten used to going home for lunch and then a nice siesta until all the businesses opened again at 3. I still remember those siestas very fondly.

The bananafederation Devided States of America should inform themselves on what's called: 'social democracies', basic (!) human rights, basic principles of law and justice, and should relate their education overall to science, more than to an almost prehistoric book and scroll collection about fairies, their tales of fortune and dissaster, and their creation of a genocidal god that had his only son killed at a cross, before becoming the good guy in the end... when Jesus went Houdini... and the oracle of John spiced up his act with soma, and some drugs, like lsd. Imagination, people! Whether our brain evolved, or was created... it isn't meant for defecation! Please! Try to USE it. It might be meant for that. Meantime I wish you all a merry Xmass and a better, and more musical new year. 😮

Our Arizona 45 y/o daughter, born and raised in Arizona moved to London five years ago. We visit her for two- three weeks each year and miss her tons. That said, she loves her life, her career, the culture, the travel opportunities and the people there and has no intention or desire to return to living in the US. Given the recent election results, we’re happy that she will not be subjected to the madness, chaos and national decline that election will inflict on America.

Changing the US healthcare system will require legislation, that will require politicians. BUT, the politicians in the US all appear to be sponsored by big business corporations (+ gun lobby, etc.), so how likely is that to happen?

This was a great upload, full of tolerance and understanding! I understand your liking of Spain, I've spent over 50 weeks there on holidays. For over 50 years I've lived in Northern Europe, paid high taxes, got (almost) free schooling for our two daughters who got university degrees, they now have six children between them. The last six months I have had heart trouble, with an ambulance to the hospital three times, 14 nights in hospital, three operations... a long story! The treatment was fantastic, I paid a small contribution but nearly everything was part of state health care. Thus is fairly normal in Western Europe.
