Maybe it will! in 2025. I've listened to this song, as performed by Bruce, for decades. But I came listening to it today because of something Edward Norton said in an interview with Steven Colbert on his late show. Edward is promoting the movie 'A complete unknown' about Bob Dylan. Ed Norton plays Pete Seeger in the movie. Asked about who Norton thinks is today's Dylan, or Seeger, he named Bruce Springsteen as the successor to Seeger & Guthrie. Norton seemed to know Springsteen's music quite well, comparing 'Born in the USA' to 'This land is your land'. But he said something about the lyrics of 'This Land' that I couldn't place, so I had to check. Maybe more people, as they are drawn to the movie, will seek out not only Dylan's work but also some of the other musicians who feature in the movie; Joan Baez, Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie... Personally, I'm not much of a novel reader, and I don't live in America so I didn't grow up with American literature, but after Bruce released 'Tom Joad' I ended up reading, and love 'Grapes of Wrath'. I'm sure Steinbeck sold a few more copies since Bruce released that album. Just look at what Luke Combs did for Tracy Chapman's 'Fast Car'.... Current US economic and political climate does warrant a re-visit of 'This land is your land', American troubadours & heartland music.

Once I rode that ribbon highway, I saw above me the endless sky, I saw below me a golden valley; This land was made for you and me. I've roamed and rambled, and I followed my footsteps Through the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts; And all around me a voice was sounding; it cried, This land was made for you and me. Well the sun came shining, as I went strolling, Through the wheat fields waving and her dust clouds rolling, And her bells were ringing, as the fog was lifting, And I seen this land was made for you and Me. One Sunday morning, In the shadow of the steeple, by the relief office, I saw the people And they were hungry, and they were wondering, Is this land made for you and me? This land is your land, and this land is my land From California to the New York island From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters This land was made for you and me

This song was written by a socialist. Wild to claim this. Not only that, the line tbh at speaks of the “shadow of the steeple” and the “relief office” is pointing a finger directly at the failures of both religion and the government for failing the people. In this election alone, trump has said that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of America” which is objectively the opposite of the refrain of this song. So with all of my heart, keep this song out of your fucking mouth you absolute fool.

Well I met a little girl and I settled down In a little house, out on the edge of town And we were married and swore we'd never part Then little by little we drifted from each other's hearts At first I thought it was just restlessness The kind that fades as time goes by and our love grows deep In the end it was something more I guess That tore us apart and made us weep And I'm driving a stolen car Waiting out on Ellridge Avenue Each night I wait to get caught But I never do She asked if I remembered the letters I wrote When our love was young and bold She said that last night she read those letters That they made her feel one hundred years old Well I'm driving a stolen car Through the pitch-black night And I keep telling myself Someday I'm gonna be alright But I ride by night and I travel in fear That in this darkness I will disappear

Bruce, DMB, Counting Crows, Eddie/Pearl Jam, Lenny Kravitz, Matchbox 20 Artists and Bands that you got all of, I mean every dollar of your money’s worth when you bought one of there albums… I can remember listening to every single song over and over of Counting Crows August and Everything after, Matchbox 20’s Mad Season, pretty much every single DMB Album even his solo album, Pearl Jam’s 10 and Eddie Vedders In to wild stuff.. For me Bruce was the 1st for me. I remember getting the Born in the USA Beige Cassette for Christmas when I was 9-10 and literally playing it so much that the tape inside the cassette ripped apart from wear and then spending a week trying to get the cassette open to try and tape it together… Probably the last band I felt close to that was OAR….. I almost feel like the National Anthem should be Don McCleans Song American Pie
