Training elephants is dangerous for the elephant as well as for the mahout. More people may attend pooram and festival when the danger of elephants running amok is removed. All captive elephants including calves should be sent to Trivandrum elephant camp to be grouped into herds of approximately 30 elephants & these herds which can survive any wild elephant attack should be released in the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve to lead a free life & to preserve forests & prevent mud sliding & floods & stabilise climate change & safeguard us.
