Hey Het love your content, I have been looking through your channel and I bought the lab work book. I am a complete beginner to Linux and am wondering how to view your content in order. Should I start and complete the labbook? Some of the videos like the playlist named "start here" seems to start a few pages ahead in the book.
@het_tanis8213
@het_tanis8213 21 күн бұрын
@FloridaWarren I would start with the labs and the book. The videos just give more context to Linux topics. We've also got a Discord you can hang in to talk with other engineers in, and a course currently running to help you get ready for a job in the field. All of that stuff is free.

FYI - NixOS / Nix package manager is awesome. There are high salaried job posting for experience with Nix. Most useful in Operations / DevOps / Developers. It can install NixOS as a Linux server. It can create containers in Docker / Kubernetes. Nix solves a lot of IT problems in regards to reproducibility. You declare what you want and Nix makes it happen. It's a bit like Terraform in that regard. Dev environments can be temporarily setup to meet dependencies and the environment is destroyed when you exit a devshell. You can drop a config into a project repo and when someone clones it (they have Nix installed) it will execute the package installations. Through the magic of direnv when you enter the project dir the environment is rebuilt. This lets you run older software and it's dependencies without messing up your latest dev environment. Nix runs on Windows WSL2, macOS, & Linux. NixOS is their Linux distribution. nixos.org
