Why can we see the tiniest of cracks but not the shadows of the shingles? This would work for a texture on a building in the background of a low poly game, but as the focus, it looks no different from if you did use an even lazier pretextured brush.

but it was round shaped and you made the edge sharp?

Ive been learning CSP, albeit very slowly, and I appreciate your appreciation for subtely and artfullness. Ive been a traditional artist for a very long time and switching over to digital has been incredibly hard for me. I have to really go back to basics and translate those iver first before I start anytbing else. This is beauitful. Thanm you ❤

Im studying video game art and I sincerely wish we'd been taught stuff like this, I hate that I get better knowledge off KZbin than I do from the degree I'm paying for.. thank you for this channel!!

That specular reflection is so important that removing it became shorthand for death in animation. Go look at your favorite animated show: when a character dies, chances are that shine is dying with them.

One problem I face with my art is coming up with ideas I have ideas for a thousand of designs, I have built a whole world around that idea (as you mentioned) but when I finally go and try to bring that idea, that world to life, I get stuck, is it my skills that are lacking? What if i mess up? What if i destroy this idea? I have seen that the best of my works are those where I didnt went in with a plan, where i just painted with a general idea, like my current work I just thought "I wanna draw a cool scary tree in dark" which came up with something (at least to me) beautiful and pretty

Its funny how we can tell when something lioks realistic or not, but to actually capture that in a drawing is so difficult. Like knowing where to add shadows and highlights. I can imagine an apple under green light in my head, but there is no way in heck i could replicate that image by drawing, not without thousands of hours of practice at least. Anyways all this to say, i really like the way you broke it down so even a noob like me could understand. Great tutorial! 👍
