@@moozarksphotos458 Here we go. mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/activities/photography We might be having such a problem since our dark sky sites are so close to St. Louis. Our big confrontation was in December. It's not been so bad since the spring. The site does say "commercial photography", DNR, and the FEDs for that matter, consider any photo put on KZbin as commercial, regardless of whether you actually get any money from it. Until the laws are fixed, it's better to be safe than sorry. I know they are trying to fix the wording of the law to protect individual photographers at the federal level. The propose of the law was to protect against big productions, but as usual, it hurts the normal people instead.

Hey, buddy! Hope you’re doing well. Some nice shots there. Did you guys take an exposure for the foreground and the background? Or did you just capture everything in one shot? Sometimes, if I can get away with it, I have better luck taking a longer shutter, low ISO exposure of the foreground, and then a longer/high ISO shot of the Milky Way, then blending them together in Photoshop.

Hard to choose favs. Second photo of rocks in Eastern CO; I’m fascinated with the lower whiteish formation that looks like a petrified horse head/neck. The B&W picture in Garden of the Gods definitely caught my eye because of your lack of color choice! The Glenwood Canyon waterway with the colorful flowers is mesmerizing! Outstanding! Well balanced between video and stills. Just the right amount of tech talk. Mary Ann was a perfect assistant to you Steve. In that regard, I like the last photo in the video the best , with her red jacket. I've never done this sort of photography and I learned from your video there is a lot of advance recon and prep plus on-the fly adjustments that make it harder than most (like me) might think...much less being in an open field with cattle about in the dark.
3 ай бұрын
Thank you. I took your previous post to heart and worked to include more stills throughout. This type of photography is fun, but I find that I can spend more than two hours in the field and come away with only 3 or 4 useful frames. Hopefully future videos will be even better.
@mikemorgan7009
@mikemorgan7009 3 ай бұрын
Believe me when I say that as you guys get older you will find the subject matter/location and time of day photos are taken becomes less important to your photo habits. I have found as I've aged that I now get the same level of photo enjoyment taking close-up photos of flowers in my garden as I once did with compositions of epic landscapes, glaciers and wildlife in Alaska. I also now find joy in casual photography midday, stopping on the way to and from appointments or shopping often results in a lot of keepers. Before ending my comments, I want to say I am a still photographer, not a videographer, so I have no interest in making You Tube presentations. But, I do watch them all the time. In that regard, I think your videos would be better received if you would include photos taken of scenes during the video description, rather then at the end. As you are now doing Steve, I once spent time in my younger days with Mike, out and about with our cameras, so I stuck around to the end of your video because of that. However, were I a stranger just looking at what Ozark photography is all about, I probably would have stopped watching well before getting to the end. Obviously others may disagree, but for me having less technical talk, less standing around, and most important more photos during the video seems a good way to attract more viewers. Meanwhile, I envy your motivation getting up at 0430 and on the road with hot coffee to foggy Ozark locations I know fairly well, having been raised as a young boy in that environment (Neosho). Cheers!.
