Bettas are better off alone in spacious, shallow, and well planted tanks.

Agreed that they might be better off alone but if there is already a large tank, why not add some larger tankmates that won't present a challenge to them? Ideally, you want these fish alone in at least a 5 gallon tank (a bit bigger is better). What do you think? Thanks for the input by the way, greatly appreciated!

@AquariumSource I've kept Bettas with African Dwarf Frogs and Mystery Snails with no problems. Any non-aggressive, nonconspicific species will do as tankmates.
