I’m concerned that the OSB in that wall was meant to ensure compliance with building code for fire rating. Also, one would think the “header” be supported by pieces of wood to serve as “jacks” on each end. Caution, just because you see it on YT doesn’t mean it’s done to code. That’s why contractors get paid so much. They have to spend time pulling permits and getting inspections from code enforcement in the hopes that DIY doesn’t turn into DisasterWhy. In all likelihood, they’ll be just fine. But, maybe not. I wouldn’t let them work on my house after watching this video. You can form your own opinions.

I appreciate your concern. I might not have done a great job showing or explaining that this was supported by jack studs just the same. Bob, the older guy, is a contractor with over 40 years experience. You were right to wonder about the OSB and fireproofing, however everything was insulated (as it was before) and we didn't break any codes on the distance from the back of the box to the chimney pipe itself. I would encourage anyone that wants to tackle a project like this to have a contractor in your tool belt as I did to make sure things go well. Good luck!

I was a bit confused for a moment, the windows made it look like an outside wall, and they started cutting through OSB, I'm thinking, " ... but that ... but that's outside, what are they doing???" :P Guess you can't always tell from a Video.

Very creative! This would have made a great Jack Daniels Ad. You should sell this to the company for a lot of money! This video was wonderful! Appreciate the close up shots showing the wiring. I'm a novice with electrical stuff, and have a few chandeliers to rewire. So if I understand correctly: 18 gauge yellow wire to each of the sockets, split into positive and neutral. 14 gauge black wire split into - positive connecting to all the yellow positives in one bundle, neutral connecting to all the yellow neutrals in one bundle. Each bundle wire nut capped and taped up 14 gauge black wire going into plug for 110V wall outlet. 14 gauge can handle all 7 bulbs amp needs. 1. Not sure how you calculated the amp output and arrived at 14 gauge? 2. I wonder if there is a hub type of gizmo that the socket wires can connect to, that makes this a cleaner assembly instead of those fat bundles? Might look better on my slender vintage chandeliers. The trouble is, I cannot look this up as I don't know the right electrical language for searches. Thanks for a great demo!! This chandelier is great for a man cave, or the front lobby of Jack Daniels corporate offices, or the CEO's office! Seriously, why not contact them and make another for a custom order? Maybe a whole row of them for the lobby. At $2000 each. By the way, an Angle Grinder (Bosch 5 inch with stop button), and a Harbor Freight 4 inch knotted and Crimped Wire Brush for grinder, would polish up that metal and wood in 10 mins. All rust, paint, corrosion, gone!

WOW! I am impressed. That is VERY cool! Well done and inspiring! Nice to see how it went along. I want to make a pair of matching hanging lights out of two antique quahog baskets I have for my kitchen. Still need to learn more and where to get supplies from. What a compressor can do is amazing! (Thankfully I have one.)

Some good ideas! Plus a little more professional carpentry than demonstrated on many other busyboard videos. (I had to laugh when I saw you use the triangular drafting ruler to draw a line! When I took drafting way back in the day, our professor went berserk whenever he saw anyone doing that :)) And ps - I kept my radial arm saw way too long; more dangerous and not as accurate as a good sliding miter saw.
