4:11, Queen Kong. Right after Covid blew the world up my friend started an online movie screening club -- one of the first ones we watched was Queen Kong. Gads, what an AWFUL movie... it was PERFECT for our brand of sardonic and sarcastic commenting in Messenger while the film rolled.

In the 1980's Kim's video started out as a great haven for underground film and oddball releases that you couldn't find anywhere else. The original manager was a guy named Matt who was pretty easygoing and offered great suggestions for films in genres that you'd mention to him. But once home video really took off and the store expanded the clerks became insufferably hip and it was a fairly unpleasant proposition renting from them, that is unless you were part of their in-group. It was located next to a bunch of iconic clubs at the time; The Pyramid, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Sidewalk Cafe and more. But by 1993 or so you couldn't swing a cat without hitting a club kid and the suffocating aura of cool was all but unbearable.

Wow, what a Karen. She should’ve always listened to this golden rule of the movies…no phones allowed during the screening of a movie…period! No matter phone call or text.

Great little video. The most overlooked band of all time and the only one that keeps getting better and releasing masterpiece albums every 2 years for their entire career. Other great, quintessential Sparks songs: Change, Balls, Suburban Homeboys, Lighten Up Morrissey. Oh, and my real name is Ron Russell!!!
