I have the Mark I Lumix and the focus ring is also stiff, so it's not the weather sealing causing it (Mark I doesn't have sealing). I'm wondering if a little silicone lubricant can help it out? 🤔

MFT is a perfect travel system for me, but I would rather use FF when I have the capacity. In the end, it is way easier to get shallow depth of field with FF. However, I have the EM1, and even though it was released in 2013, this camera is stunning. It has almost all the features of the EM1 II, including Live Composite and in-camera focus stacking. Even the face and eye detection is okayish. And I really like the 4:3 aspect ratio. Reminds me of the look of a Fuji GFX when a fast lens is used. Even though the body is not exceptionally compact, the lenses make a big difference. Similar to you, I bought the Olympus 25/1.8, 45/1.8, 60mm Macro and 40-150 R. Including the EM1 Body for way below 1000€. Fantastic for almost an entire system. And I am impressed by the quality of the lenses. They are all great, sharp from corner to corner, and still so compact. And due to the phenomenal IBIS, the pictures are rarely shaky and even not that noisy, as the ISO keeps relatively low as long exposures can be handheld easily. Perfect for traveling. Also, then great depth of field is more desirable, as I want to get as much as possible in focus. I realized how good the Olympus lenses have to be while comparing them to vintage adapted lenses. While on full frame, their performance is acceptable, their weaknesses are enhanced due to the 2x crop on MFT and are almost unusable.

I found that the free Mac version of Resolve supports 10bit 422 H.264 and H.265, but not Windows version. For Windows you need to transcode first, sadly.

I own the Lumix 100-300 version II and find it to be pretty much unusable. I have tried it out under various situations and no matter what I try, I get a LOT of unusable shots. I would not recommend this lens at half the price.

Great review. I was considering both options, and it was clear from all the sample images I saw that image quality is pretty close, so it was good to get your take on the other differences between them. If I owned a Panasonic body, I'm pretty sure I would choose the Panny 100-300, even if it wasn't one that supported Dual-IS, but I have an Olympus, so that swings it for me. CA is not a lot of fun, especially when the fringing is wide enough that it softens high contrast edges once it has been removed in post. I used to have a Tamron 70-300 that had terrible CA (this Panny doesn't appear to have it even half as bad), but I ended up replacing it pretty soon. Funny also that a stiff/jerky zoom action was a feature of the Tamron too! I read that about this Panny lens elsewhere, so it's good to know it's not just copy variation. I fear that these two drawbacks would just bug me a little too much, so Oly it is!

I read somewhere that the Olympus 75-300 ii would focus faster on Olympus bodies than the Panasonic 100-300 ii. Did you find this to be true at all? Thanks!

Good test for covering many case using this flash. Thinking of getting the junior since I use apsc with lens not that big, I think it is enough. But, anyone use it on sony like zv e10? Wonder if any problem with compatibility

The Olympus 75-300mm is a great lens for size, performance & budget. But the lens hood is too large & bulky, so it was switched out with a metal 58mm screw-on telephoto shade, the type that accepts a 62mm lens cap. The hood doesn't vignette, is about the same diameter as the lens, and the lens is compact enough that it still fits the camera case with the capped hood always attached. So now there's no more fumbling with the bulky, oversized Olympus hood-just pop off the cap and shoot. Great video! Thanks.

I have it , it's in the current software. And honestly the AF is very frustrating, it focus really fast and can easily find the eyes of your subject even in dark environments. But upon importing it to my editing software almost all my shots are not accurately in focus and the focus points sre everywhere except the eyes which makes me really sad . I will probably return it and have it replace with other units. 😢

Gorgeous images! I hope Samyang bring our an RF and/or L mount. I have Canon and Lumix and would love this lens. Thank you for your review and greetings from Oz!

RF😂😂😂Good Luck with that. Canon has 4 lenses allowed for APS-C, from Sigma, and they still didn't start shipping. Alternatively you could get an EF 135mm F2
@OzSlowly2 ай бұрын
@@pauuuuul87 , I previously owned an EF 135/F2 = outstanding lens. Currently have a Samyang EF135mm/F2, manual of course, but also an outstanding lens. LOL, from what you say L-mount 135/1.8 maybe available long before an RF! I would settle for that!
@holdmylenscap72412 ай бұрын
Samyang is now part of the L-Mount alliance so L mount will come for sure. As of RF... that's Canon's fault. They are very strict about no one but Canon can make RF lenses, with a very few exceptions.

Nice review, would love to know if the falcam straps are longer. I always find I could do with more extension on the peak design straps. The falcam always looked less secure than PD but you showed they are also great.

I have the OM-1 MK II and the Sony A7RV, both good for very different purposes. The OM-1 MK II is more comparable to the Sony A9III as a sports camera rather than the A7RV. By the way, the crop factor must be considered when taking pictures to achieve an identical frame. For example, an MFT at f/1.8 and ISO 200 would need to be adjusted to f/3.6 and ISO 800 on a full-frame sensor to maintain equivalent framing, depth of field, bokeh and noise characteristics. PS: Sony finally got focus bracketing in the A7RV, at long last, but it's still easier with the OM-1 due to its size. The 60mm 2.8 is so much smaller than my Tamron 90mm 2.8 on full-frame.

Looks like this method corrupts the original file? I was able to open the 10Bit file in VLC player. but post the conversion I cant open it in VLC. This is damn risky. Also the file converted(8bit) has got 5.5 times bigger size than the 10bit . My podcast video file (10bit) is 97GB - 3.5 hours recording.Post conversion to 8bit - the file is 550GB -- now I am worried that it will be too difficult to render. Plus the original file cant be played in VLC too and the forum says it could be corrupted !!! I am doomed. :( (

dont use vlc if you are starting to use "proper" formats for editing. use MPC-HC player instead. All of your problems diesapear. I had problems with vlc since I started recording in c4k / 6k.

I tried On1 years ago but I wasn't able to import lightroom presets I created. Is it able to import the newer .xmp presets? This is really what kept me from switching, and with all the crazy copyright stuff Adobe is shoving down our throats I am looking for a capable alternative where I do not have to start from scratch with.
