Can this still work if the bird is a bit older? I got mine when it was only a few weeks old, so she views me as mom, I hand fed her, and she is out and playing with me all the time, but I just haven’t taught her flight recall yet. So she doesn’t come when I call. She does step up, and she will follow me/ fly to me if I try to get out of view (aka into another room)

Definitely not in 6 steps! This can take years with some birds. Especially older birds. You should definitely start with a harness that has a long extension string just in case. I’ve also seen some people use GPS trackers that clip to tails.

this is a horrible idea. not only can "hand taming" your bird as a baby cause behavioral issues, it can also cause it to not know how to do bird things because it wasn't taught how to be a bird by its parents. birds shouldn't think they are literally human babies. also free flight is extremely irresponsible and dangerous. if a predator cat or bird scoops up ur parrot that is your fault. i don't care how tame your bird, if it becomes spooked it'll get caught up in a wind and carried miles away. also the tiny cages in this video show how these birds aren't even properly cared for. birds aren't toys, and they technically shouldn't even be pets.

U R VERY HEARTLESS N U SHLD NOT hv bought them in the first place. When u didnt hv time for birds NEVER buy them...its not only Sunconure but any birds. People buy them for show case pcs...its wrong bcoz u hv to spend time for birds ....they are like little kids. Men want their kids also to be looked after only by their mother n father hardly has time even for his own kids yeah but frnds he has time....thats not done... Sunconures are very intelligent birds they may not talk but they can understand wat we say VERY WELL ... My pet shop owner had one sunconure n handed over his bird to me as he had big cats too n the bird was afraid. He knew i had plenty of birds n give all my birds special individual attention as he trusted his sunconure with me. Initially i too had problems n told him that i did not know that sunconures are VERY LOUD. OMG!!!! very loud i agree n my other birds are very quiet instead but then i accepted him n got frndly with him. Even my son 28yrs old at times got annoyed with him n i took him out of his room bcoz he could not focus on his work that was WFH during covid i got him. But i was patient with him n got very frndly with him left him out the whole day as he played with boxes n stuff n ate lits of fresh fruits n white rice n chapati. He was content....but i felt after two yrs he needed a companion n i got him one female Mindy n Mango 😂 I am so sorrry that u hv to just send yr birds off...very sad though...😭😭
