people in the provinces here in the Philippines are generally honest and helpful as they are usually more religious and more subjected to discipline by their elders, if not, they have a strong belief in superstition that if you do a bad thing, it will come back to you worse, and if you do a good deed, you get more in return. i'm glad you got to experience the good side of Filipinos and wish you well. enjoy your stay here, and hope you have more good memories of our country.

There are really good people around, very helpful ones, honest ones... but there are also rotten tomatoes anywhere in the country. One thing is sure, the people are nice , fun-loving and very friendly in general. I should know, i am a Filipino, a full blooded Ilocano 😊

i visited 3 times the philippines, and i am excited to return, i love the country and her amazing people, it is better to trust a poor philippina than any rich person in the world,i ften leave all my things with philippine family when i go swimming, i ask them to watch over it for me,and i dont know if they look to see what i leave with them, but never they take anything,so i always give them something for watching over my things,and like this girl, i also found myself with nothing,but the people i meet also help me,until i can find a way of returning back to europe,even the poorest of people see in my eyes that there is something wrong, and they give me all the help possible,one very poor girl that help me so much,i will never forget,and i hope i can meet her again,she give me so much,not only food,comfort etc,but she give me hope,took me to church, WOW a truly amazing girl i cry now thinking of her, but i remember the dy when everything was good, and i could finally return to europe, i give her 40 THOUSAND PESO, it is probably the most money she has ever seen,she give me such a tight hug i thought she will break my bones,that girl and all philippine people are in my prayers forever,God bless and guide the philippines, you have so many lessons to teach this world,i think if God created a country of angels, then that country is the Phiippines

Ha ha, let me give you the polar opposite story. I was trekking in Nepal. I went to Makalu base camp. On my return, I spent a full day walking through the rain. As I approached the village I was going to be sleeping in, the rain stopped and the sun came out. I removed my boots and placed them in the sun and took a half hour nap. And my boots disappeared. The village was only about 8 stone huts. Everyone from the village came out to "look" for my boots. They weren't found. I had a 3 day walk through the mountains barefoot. When I got to the provincial capitol (Tumlingtar) I filed a police report. This was March and there had already been 14 reports of stolen trekking equipment in that little village.

You mentioned about vacation girlfriends effectively getting trips overseas from the man they’re hanging out with . I don’t think that’s reasonable. There are so many protections for the Filipinos that they would most likely get off-boarded at the airport and not be able to go to Switzerland or wherever. On the other hand trips within the Philippines yeah they’re gonna take those trips. They’re gonna enjoy those trips and everybody will be happy.

How to find a hobby? Or someone that speaks English? Besides the resorts and spending gobs of cash, what else is there to do? I’ve been here 6 weeks and have a place in the province. All the locals do is drink n do karaoke. Internet is too laggy to play games. Even in Cebu.

I am a Filipina and lived here all my life and trust me there are still a lot of opportunists here, specially if you're not a native from the place more over a foreigner. I am just glad she was helped by the right people and even went the extra mile for her. I still want everyone to be cautious when travelling wherever.
