Y’know Travis has a point. Vax is the only person either confident, stupid or both enough to ruin the best day of a half giant that has been shown to not only have enough strength to rip a man in half but also the temper to commit violence over the smallest of slights because of something petty. Grog has also been around Vax long enough to notice or at least suspect him to be again overconfident, dumb or both to do something as suicidal as this again to a man who cleaved someone in two with one swing.

Grog would have almost no moral compass if it wasn't for Pike. As a matter of fact, before Pike he only just barely had one and the one time he used it, it almost cost him his life. And ever since they've been traveling together, she's been the one that steered him on the right path (for the most part) to a point that even just the thought of disappointing her is enough to stop this 8ft tall hulking mass of muscles dead in his tracks and reconsider his actions. If that's not adorable, I don't know what is.

I don't think Grog is afraid of Pike, and I don't think she was disappointed. I think Pike's look at Grog was more of a, "You better not." And Grog realizing his recklessness could hurt his best buddy, which is why he immediately backed down. I highly doubt Pike would've done anything to Grog if he went through with it; except maybe run after him to give him heals and showing him he isn't just risking himself, but all his friends, when he's reckless.

3:20 Thing is, Travis is absolutely right. Even if Grog had the mental aptitude to deduce that Vax was the only member of VM who could properly stealth barber someone, he would absolutely go after his prank nemesis for this regardless of the actual culprit.
