I have a 96 Toyota truck and clear coat is coming off. Question, I don’t have spray equiptment so will use spray cans. Should I sand what type clear coat primer I a can, sorry I am a newbie without equiptment? Then sand? Then clear coat- recommendations for cans? Just doing hood and top. San Diego here. Thanks Desi

Well you've got about 1/4 of the information needed to answer that question from the way you described it. I don't know how you're running an education website with information like you provided here. I'm not trying to pick on you dude but that was a pretty poor way of answering the question. You didn't touch base on what the pros and cons are to the various sister brands of PPG like Omni and shopline versus getting straight up PPG paint. Just because someone sees the red color that they like on the street doesn't mean that only one person can mix the paint and that's the way you portrayed the answer. I can go out and pick jet stream Blue by Chevrolet but I can get it mixed in sherwin-williams, axalta, ppg, etc. Picking a color off the street can be mixed by multiple brands and not just one. There are very few brands that own the rights to a color paint like mystic Chrome for the 2003 mustang SVT Cobra. I believe a color like that along with the Tiffany blue that was mixed for the Ferrari or Bugatti car some years back is owned by that company that manufactures the vehicle and no one else can mix that color because the vehicle manufacturer owns that color.

This week I am spraying 2 stage automotive Clear onto a Pinball Machine playfield and I will be using it for that. My other project is a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII. The only damage is a small dent behind the drivers door, no rust either. It's going to stay the same color (factory red for that model & year), but I am going to search out a 3 stage pearl. I used that paint system years ago on a Cadillac repair and really liked it.
