Blue Chip and Bag on the Table were my shooting dope songs to. Damn that was a lifetime ago.

They were in that category of the greatest American Band nobody ever heard of. I wore the grooves out of both those albums and still listen to them to this day.

Saw them at an outdoor concert at Crocker Park overlooking the harbor one summer in Marblehead, Ma.

This is the best version I've heard of this song! The superb fiddling is just icing on the top. The NOT stopping the time for the 'weed whites and wine' line is one of the good ideas Seatrain brought to this one.

As a flautist I prefer Seatrain's original rendition of this song

Got to see him live 1972 at Vanderbilt University in a small venue. The guy was a hoot! But his back-up singers, The Lickettes, kind of stole the show. All in all a really fun show.

As jvbryant said 11 years ago, this song is NOT on 'Marblehead Messenger.' It is on 'Seatrain,' along with 13 Questions, Out Where the Hills, Song of Job, Orange Blossom Special, etc.

Always loved this tune. The flute and slide guitar compliment each other so well, gives me chills. RIP Johnny

I loved playing this song with the band back in the 70's, a fun classic. He was the first good concert I attended in San Diego, '72 no strutting just hot pickin', then later on until he was losing his edge.! RIP.

I have this original vinyl. Nice but hard to beat Little Feat. Just an observation from someone who was there when music was exploding into so many directions.

Use to stand outside the Vulcan Gas Company Austin Texas in the late 60's and early 70's and listened to johnny ( I was too young to get in). Also, Shivas Headband, Mother Earth Bubble Puppy, best music on this planet

I first heard this song in 1970 on a late night radio broadcast. I never forgot it but it would be half a century before I would hear it again. It is every bit as curious a piece of music as I first suspected.

This is my favorite of their songs. I saw them many, many years ago, early 70's. As someone stated in the comments this song live is truly amazing and really hooked me. I was a fan from then on. This still gives me goose bumps..

This song was recorded on one of Johnny Winters best blues album ever " STILL ALIVE AND WELL" in 1973 I knew nothing about country music but I love this song..I grew up in New Jersey in 1973...no country music there at that time.. so this song was my introduction from Johnny out of Texas...I only like one country star...that being Johnny Cash...both men so talented..it would have been the best if they had met and went into a recording studio..knowing Johnny Winter .he would have absolutely played at the Folsom State Prison...AMEN

Another song done by a rock band that got me liking the sound of country music was "You Ain't Going Nowhere" by the Byrds. They actually did a whole country album, "Sweet Heart of the Rodeo."

I'm 71 yrs old and first heard Seatrain in '71. Dancing, pullin' on a huge number chockful of Lebanese Gold. Today, I picked up the CD and I'm pullin' on a huge number, but the dancing is a tad arthritic. Kewl.
